Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Theatre Design & TechnologyDescriptionThe Department of Theatre & Dance at the College of the Holy Cross invites applications for a full-time tenure-track appointment to begin in August 2022. The faculty member will lead, oversee and coordinate all lighting, technology and design activities for the department as we move into our
brand new, state-of-the art performing arts center (see
here). The faculty member will also advise and mentor students, as well as maintain and update design curriculum as needed. Depending on abilities and interest, the faculty member will ideally teach in at least one other production area, such as non-Western production & design, sound design, video & projection, VR, or online/interactive media. Design and Technology experience in non-Western theatre is highly desirable.
This position carries the equivalent of 3-2 teaching load-designing sets and lights for three mainstage productions, teaching two courses (one per semester) and overseeing technical theatre practicum labs. The position comes with a full-salary, one-semester research leave prior to tenure review, and generous sabbatical and fellowship leaves for tenured faculty. Tenure-track faculty are eligible for travel support and reimbursement of relocation costs within the College's published policies. Qualifications A terminal degree in design or related area of expertise.
A minimum of three to five years experience designing scenery and lighting in professional or educational settings.
Proficiency with CAD software (Vectorworks or AutoCAD preferred)
Candidates must demonstrate commitment to, and excellence in, undergraduate teaching as informed by current practice and scholarship in the field.
