Administrative Position Opening:
Director of Campus Ministry
Gonzaga College High School is seeking an experienced, full-time high school Director of Campus Ministry for the 2022-23 academic year. The Director will also assist with Ignatian Formation of the adult community.
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills, qualifications, and attributes:
- Minimum of a Master’s degree, in Theology, Divinity, or Education.
- 10+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience that includes program administration, leading/supervising teams and individuals in managerial contexts, and budget oversight.
- Demonstrated commitment to the Jesuit, Catholic mission and identity in secondary education.
- Deep understanding of Jesuit and Catholic intellectual tradition, as well as, experience with the Spiritual Exercises and Ignatian spirituality, which takes shape within the school environment for faculty, staff, students, parents, alumni, and other stakeholders.
- Proven experience leading adult formation for mission in secondary and/or higher education.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of the Jesuit commitment to respectfully engage religiously diverse faculty, staff, and students.
- Understanding the role of programs and curricula that include community-based learning and immersion experiences as essential to Ignatian pedagogy and solidarity with the world.
- Proven experience in collaborative team-building, strategic planning, program implementation, and assessment.
This is a 12-month position with additional responsibilities after regular school hours and on weekends.
The Director of Campus Ministry is appointed by the Headmaster in cooperation with the President. The Director reports directly to the Headmaster for all matters related to Campus Ministry and to the President for all matters related to Ignatian Identity.
As it relates to Campus Ministry, the Director:
- Administers and oversees all Campus Ministry programs including, but not limited to, student liturgies, retreats, service programs, and the annual service requirements for all grade levels.
- Supervises members of the Campus Ministry team, providing for their orientation to the school, helping individuals to set realistic goals in their work, guiding continued formation and professional development, and assisting the Headmaster in the summary evaluation of the Campus Ministry team and support staff.
- Schedules regular staff meetings of the campus ministers and meets on a regular basis with the Headmaster.
- Oversees budget management for the Campus Ministry Office and submits the same in accordance with the schedule for the budget; is ultimately responsible for all purchases.
- Is responsible for the screening, interviewing, and evaluating of applicants for positions in the Campus Ministry Office, consults with the Headmaster about qualifications, expectations, and process; recommends to the Headmaster applicants to interview; appointments are the decision of the Headmaster.
As it relates to Ignatian Identity, the Director:
- Assists in the administration and coordination of ongoing Ignatian and spiritual formation for the Board of Directors, coaches, parents, alumni, and faculty/staff (in cooperation with the President, Assistant Headmaster for Faculty/Staff Development, and other key staff).
- In keeping with the overall mission of the school and working with the President on issues related to Ignatian Mission and Identity, facilitates program goals, objectives, and long-range outcomes, then develops a consistent approach to ministry with this vision in mind.
