Seed funding for the NCEA Director of Hispanic/Latino Engagement position has been provided by the Crimsonbridge Foundation. Goals of the Director of Hispanic/Latino Engagement are: 1) to support Catholic schools in educating and advancing the participation of Hispanic/Latino Catholic families within the U.S. in Catholic education, and 2) to enlist new and creative ways of recruiting and retaining Hispanic/Latino teachers and leaders to serve in Catholic education. In addition to bi-literacy, bi-cultural understanding and implementation is needed.
Duties & Responsibilities
Partner with (arch)dioceses and schools to build organizational and school strategies and capacity to become more welcoming and inclusive of Latino/Hispanic families.
Collaborate with (arch)dioceses and places of Catholic higher education to create and execute recruitment strategies aimed at increasing Hispanic/Latino representation of teachers and leaders in Catholic education through targeted outreach, programs, professional development opportunities, and other strategies.
Adopt a “whole-community” approach by assisting (arch)dioceses’ and schools’ investment in Spanish and bilingual communications, parent engagement, bilingual staffing, professional development for cultural competency, and tuition assistance for Hispanic/Latino families.
Identify and pursue new engagement opportunities for current and potential Latino/Hispanic Catholic school families, including marketing and enrollment strategies.
Develop and facilitate ongoing Professional Learning Networks (PLNs) for (arch)diocesan and schools centered on topics supporting engagement of Catholic Hispanic/Latino families.
Collaborate with NCEA Content and Engagement teams to create membership content around Hispanic/Latino engagement (e.g., webinars, NCEA Weekly, blogs, webinars, Momentum Magazine).
Partner with (arch)dioceses and places of Catholic higher education in identifying opportunities for collaboration in research, programmatic offerings, and meaningful resources to support Hispanic/Latino families in Catholic education.
Develop and facilitate learning strands for NCEA Convention and Catholic Leadership Summit (CLS), including session proposals and in-person meet-ups.
Other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Leadership Engagement and/or NCEA President.
Reporting & Team Structure
The Director of Hispanic/Latino Engagement will report directly to the Vice President of Leadership Engagement.
The Director of Hispanic/Latino Engagement will meet bi-weekly with the NCEA Engagement team.
Collaboration with NCEA Content, Membership, Marcom and other teams is necessary.
Qualifications & Competencies
Must be an active, practicing Roman Catholic.
Must be fluent in both written and spoken Spanish.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills in general, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
At least 5-7 years of professional experience in Catholic education and leadership.
Takes full responsibility for results based on setting measurable goals for growth.
Demonstrates creative and critical thinking skills, strong relationship management, strategy development, project management, problem-solving and change management skills.
Professional and positive approach, trustworthy, self-motivated, team player, dynamic, creative with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Inspires, motivates, and guides others toward goals and objectives that are aligned with NCEA’s mission, vision, and strategic plan.
A college/university B.A. degree in Education or a related field is required.
This position allows the Director of Hispanic/Latino Engagement to work remotely; however, qualified candidates must be willing to travel (e.g., local, regional, national events).
