Job Description:
The Principal is the Chief Academic Officer of the school, directly responsible for the development, execution, and administration of the academic, co-curricular and formational programs of the school. The Principal supervises the faculty and academic staff. The Principal position is directly reports to the Pastor of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Community.

Candidate Qualifications & Skills:
The Principal shall be a person who has an engaging personality, is organized and well rounded, and who facilitates growth and collaboration inside and outside of the classroom. The principal:
Is a faith-filled practicing Catholic with a strong commitment to Catholic education.
Has at least a Master’s degree in an education-related discipline.
Has an administrative certification in the State of California, or the ability to obtain it.
Has a track record of demonstrated successes in elementary or middle school teaching.
Has demonstrated leadership/administrative experience.
Has improved the practice of faculty and instructional staff through observation, evaluation and coaching.
Collaborates and communicates effectively and is able to positively motivate and inspire faculty, staff, parents and students to carry out the school’s mission.

St. Paul the Apostle Catholic School will be celebrating its 90th year of Catholic education in 2025, and the
parish, of which the school is part, will be celebrating its 97th year serving the West Los Angeles
community. Originally, the Paulist Fathers founded the St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Community to serve
the moving picture people, and a few years later, the Paulists partnered with the Daughters of Mary and
Joseph to start St. Paul the Apostle School. Today, it is one of the flagship schools in the Los Angeles
Archdiocese.
St. Paul the Apostle School has a 100% acceptance rate of 8th graders in Catholic High Schools and 41
Legacy Families. Since its founding, St. Paul’s has expanded from its original 6 classrooms to the current 22,
which include a science lab, library/media center, choir/music rooms, early literacy lab, art studio, and
athletic gym. The school has 2 homerooms for each grade, offering a rigorous education of the whole
person, helping prepare students for success in high school, college, and life.
