Program Coordinator will be based in Rwanda.
The Research Program on Childrenand Adversity (RPCA) at the Boston College School of Social Work (BCSSW) is anapplied research program dedicated to improving the evidence base ofunderstanding risk and protective factors influencing mental health, childdevelopment, and family functioning as well as intervention research to developand test behavioral interventions for children and families affected bymultiple forms of adversity, including armed conflict, poverty, and infectiousdisease.
The ProgramCoordinator will support all aspects of family intervention projects related toearly childhood development (ECD) and violence prevention. The coordinator willbe responsible for participant and interventionist enrollment, supportingtraining materials development and facilitation, data collection andmanagement, providing support to field staff and will liaise regularly withpartner organizations, local government, and RPCA headquarters in Boston. TheResearch Program Coordinator will be based in Rwanda.
The Program Coordinator reports to the Program Manager for the Sugira Muryango program at SSW Research Program onChildren and Adversity.
The currentresearch project links with an evidence-based, home-visiting model (SugiraMuryango; SM) that supports playful parenting, father engagement, improvednutrition, care seeking and family functioning -- to promote Early ChildDevelopment, positive parent-child relationships, and healthy childdevelopment. This scaling out implementation science hybrid design would enableRPCA to 1) expand SM to younger children (0-6 months); 2) increase by almosttenfold the number of children impacted by the intervention; 3) increase theuse of technology to accelerate feedback; and, 4) test an evidence-basedimplementation strategy, the Promoting Lasting Anthropometric Change and YoungChildren's Development (PLAY) Collaborative, to engage local stakeholders andfrontline providers and supervisors to ensure quality improvement andsustainability.

Essential Functions - In-CountryOversight (100%):
Support the Program Manager toprovide on-the-ground support in Rwanda and via long distance communicationwith RPCA, field logistics, and liaise regularly with partner organizations onthe ground as well as local government officials to fulfill the scientific aimsof the program projects.
Collect data on theimplementation of the model and the delivery of services.
Collaborate with postdoctoral fellows and researchassociates at Boston College and FXB Rwanda to ensure in-country datacollection is fulfilling the scientific aims of the program.
Coordinate participant andinterventionist enrollment and tracking.
Coordinate and support training materials developmentand facilitation for field staff.
Ensures accurate data entryand management in various systems, such as Excel, Google Docs, and RedCAP.
Leadsthe production of training videos including script and narrative developmentfor a Digital Dashboard Data Collection tool in conjunction with the Governmentof Rwanda and government agencies including Ministry of Gender and FamilyPromotion (MIGEPROF) and National Child Development Agency (NCDA) and providestechnical oversight throughout the entire production process.
Support the field staff inRisk of Harm and referral trainings, identification and tracking.
Leadsconversations with funders and stakeholders on the development andimplementation of Digital Tools for Data Collection [Digital Dashboard] as wellas quality indicators.
The incumbent isresponsible for developing and nurturing delicate partnerships with Rwandanstakeholders and navigating complex and cross-cultural relationships.
Must be able to travel internationally and commit tosignificant time engaged in field work.
RequirementsBachelor's required, preferablyin Public Health, Social Work, Developmental Psychology, Mental Health, orother related field. A minimum of two years of experience working withgrassroots organizations. Must possess stronginterpersonal skills and diplomacy to deal effectivelywith multiple constituencies and cultural diversity at all levels. Must be ableto manage a local team with sensitivity, evaluateproblems thoroughly, show resourcefulness in identifying solutions, and displaysound judgment. Experience in digitalmental health interventions and UI/UX development of an application forwidespread data collection use. Ability to support development of relationshipsbetween Government [National and Local] and miniseries of health stakeholders. Ableto motivate, develop, and inspire colleagues and employees at all levels.Demonstrated maturity and capacity to navigate a complex environment andrespond to shifting and fluid priorities. Demonstrated ability to workindependently and proactively. Priorinternational work in a low resource or field setting, particularly in Africa,is required. Project management, cloud-basedstorage systems, and Google applications preferred; experience with datamanagement systems including but not limited to Excel,Word, MAXQDA, RedCap and SPSS/SAS or STATA a plus. Ability to build andsteward critical relationships with collaborative partners and field staff.
