Position Summary
The McAuley School of Nursing (MSON) is part of the College of Health Professions and offers both undergraduate and graduate degree in nursing. Undergraduate tracks include traditional, second degree option and part-time. Graduate offerings include the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) exit tracks for family nurse practitioner, nursing & healthcare leadership, adult-gerontology clinical nurse specialist, clinical nurse leader; post-graduate emergency nurse practitioner, post-master’s DNP, and DNP in nurse anesthesia. The Master’s Entry Advanced Generalist (MEAGN), most recently launched, offers pre-licensure preparation at the master’s level. Since 2016, the MSN and DNP programs have been ranked in the U.S. News and World Report (March 2021) “Best Graduate Schools Ranking” and the Nurse Anesthesia Program was ranked #10 in the nation.
The Nurse Anesthesia Department invites applications for a tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor in Nursing within the MSON. This full-time position is for a highly-motivated educator for our program. Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated an active program of scholarship, and evidence of excellence in teaching university-level academic nurse anesthesia. Expertise in simulation in nurse anesthesia education is also sought.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The Nurse Anesthesia Department in the McAuley School of Nursing seeks an innovative scholar with demonstrated excellence in teaching and scholarship in nurse anesthesia. The successful candidate will make significant contributions to our program in integrating the intellectual, spiritual, ethical and social development of our students. This full-time, tenure-track faculty position with a full teaching load each semester may include classroom, clinical, and online instruction as well as various administrative work as assigned by the department chair and/or the Dean.
Requirements
- Doctoral degree in nursing (PhD or DNP) or a doctoral degree in a closely related discipline and graduate degree in nursing
- Michigan RN license or ability to obtain as well as applicable national nursing certification
- Relevant CRNA practice experience as indicated in the position summary
- Commitment to contribute to clinical learning
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates who have a record of experience and demonstrated commitment to teaching and scholarship in nurse anesthesia.
Physical Requirements
Job may require lifting light weight objects (1 to 10 pounds) with no repetitive bending or stooping. Occasionally lift average weight objects (1 to 10 pounds).
Work Environment
Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a standard office and classroom. Environment subject to change pending semester workload and inclusion/exclusion of clinical site to consideration of environment.
Licenses/Certifications
Michigan RN license or ability to obtain as well as applicable national nursing certification
