All Saints’ Episcopal Day School, an exceptional PK–8 school in the heart of Central Phoenix, seeks an experienced Athletic Director and Physical Education Teacher for the 2025-26 school year. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience as an educator, coach, and leader. We are seeking a visionary with experience building a first-class athletic program, leading a coaching staff, and fostering students’ enthusiasm for activity and fitness to create a healthy lifestyle. The hours for this position are beyond the school day. The position includes teaching classes during the school day, facilitating athletics programming, and coaching after school. It includes weekend work a few times during the school year, as well.
General Responsibilities
Serve as the leader of the Physical Education Department and Athletics Program. Bring excitement and vision to both programs. Support the philosophy, policies, and goals of the School and advance the School's emphasis on positioning athletics as a key component of fulfilling the School's mission.
Foster a culture that supports the School’s athletic philosophy to serve as an extension of the educational experience, developing valuable character traits, strong teamwork, and a passion for an active lifestyle that reaches and is inclusive of all students.
Responsible for ensuring the health and safety of all students in the athletic program and physical education classes.
Create ongoing opportunities for students and foster participation in a variety of athletic activities.
Plan, coordinate and oversee all school athletic activities including but not limited to team sports, intramurals, award ceremonies, and other athletic events the School holds.
Provide leadership in defining how updated athletics facilities will be used across grade levels, for faculty and staff, and for specific teams.
Create a vision for the department and facilitate ongoing program growth. Strategically plan for the future and maintain a growth mindset about the possibilities of the program to cultivate the “body” element of our mission. Evaluate the quality and success of the athletic program on an annual basis with an eye toward identifying opportunities for improvement.
Instructional Role
Lead the physical education department and supervise a team of PE faculty members.
Oversee and continue to develop the ideal physical education/wellness program in terms of curriculum, values, and goals for the entire school.
Teach physical education classes for a variety of grades Pre-K through 8.
Advise a group of 10-12 middle school students.
Evaluate the academic and social growth of students, prepare report cards, and keep appropriate records.
Collaborate with the school counselor, nurse and other faculty in creating a focus on wellness for students and the school community.
Communicate with parents and other faculty members as needed.

Athletic Director
Represent All Saints’ Episcopal Day School at the Catholic Youth Athletic Association (CYAA) and at various state, regional and national athletic associations. Work to be viewed as a leader within these organizations.
Schedule athletic contests and league tournaments, and coordinate facilities, transportation, officials, security, etc. as needed.
Maintain all necessary documentation for the department and athletic teams.
Work with your team to set up facilities for home games to ensure space is prepared to play.
Champion all athletic events by being present as often as possible, supporting the coaches, and promoting our teams and athletes in the community. Fill in for absent coaches/referees when needed.
Partner with the Marketing Department and Division Head to promote and recognize the program and students. Provide an end-of-the season written summary to the Head of School.
Coordinate awards activities for all team sports, update athletic bulletin boards.
Coordinate and disseminate information regarding athletic practices, contests and activities to coaches, school personnel, students and parents at the beginning and throughout each season. Update website calendar.
Work with the Head of Facilities to maintain an ongoing schedule of needs to ensure that the school grounds meet athletic needs and the proper maintenance and security of all athletic equipment and athletic facilities fields and courts.
Oversee the distribution, collection, cleaning, repair and storage of all athletic uniforms and equipment.
Monitor and activate the school’s Excessive Heat Policy for athletic activities when needed.
Work to understand and positively resolve concerns when raised by students and parents.
Strategically plan for ways to enrich the athletic program and achieve annual goals for the program.
Identify opportunities for professional development and encourage participation.
Maintain professional competence by attending staff development programs, curriculum development meetings, and other professional activities.
Serve on special committees and fulfill the responsibilities of a committee member.
Attend planning meetings, team meetings, staff meetings, data meetings, and other meetings of groups according to membership in those groups.
Available to work evenings and weekends when necessary.
Ability to work outside in all weather, lift up to 50 pounds, and travel locally when required.
Perform other duties assigned by the Head of School, or their designee.
Coaching
Attract, interview and submit for hire qualified coaching staff for all athletic programs following the Schools’ hiring protocols.
Manage onboarding and requirements for coaches. Ensure all coaching staff have required current CPR, first aid, and concussion protocol training and certifications before coaching duties are assigned.
Facilitate training sessions for coaches. Develop and provide appropriate training guidelines and materials for coaching staff, ensuring that coaches are properly trained. Ensure coaching staff are performing their duties at the highest level of professionalism. Maintain a coaches manual and revise annually to reflect current policies and procedures. Have a coaches meeting prior to the start of every season to review policies and procedures.
Ensure injuries are appropriately documented on a critical incident form, coaches are aware of and follow guidelines, and safety equipment, first aid kits and emergency contact forms are obtained and prepped.
Budget & Purchasing
Prepare, submit and administer a budget each year to fund the athletic programs of the school.
Identify and purchase inventory of all athletic equipment and understand each team’s specific financial needs in accordance with the department’s budget.
Purchase awards and team sports photos.

Experience coaching elementary and/or middle school age children in a variety of sports activities.
Ability to supervise and lead adults effectively.

Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to effectively communicate with all stakeholders of the school and community.
Highly ethical team player.

Proficiency with Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in elementary education (advanced study and/or Master’s degree is preferred).
At least five years of successful experience teaching athletics/P.E. to elementary and/or middle school students. Experience as an athletic director or leader is preferred.
Education, training, and/or experience in student engagement.
Exceptional communication and leadership skills.
