St. Michael’s Catholic Preparatory School is an outstanding co-educational Independent Catholic school serving students from Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade on two adjacent campuses in Austin, Texas. The Lower School is comprised of PreK 3-4th grades, the Middle School houses grades 5-8, and the High School contains grades 9-12. St. Michael’s Catholic Preparatory School  is a Christ-centered, college preparatory learning community, inspiring lives of service, courage, personal integrity, and intellectual curiosity. We are distinguished by our Catholic tradition, a welcoming and diverse community, excellent academic programs and a variety of extracurricular activities.  Additionally, we are a technology rich school. Thus teachers are expected to demonstrate meaningful skill with technology and an enthusiasm for technological growth in order to create authentic learning experiences for their students. Ideal Candidates

Ideal candidates for positions at our school are experienced in and continue to develop expertise in social-emotional learning, project-based learning, STEAM integration, technology-rich and differentiated instruction. Ideal candidates thrive in a collaborative environment designing and delivering innovative and creative cross-curricular instructional units to students with diverse learning styles and needs. 

Responsibilities

• Knowledge and understanding of the developmental stages and needs of students in grades Pre-K 3 through 3rd grade
• Experienced in social emotional learning (Responsive Classroom) and  project based learning
• Teach in a responsive and inclusive manner
• Understanding of elementary school music curriculum and instruction
• Create a welcoming and inviting classroom environment that fosters a feeling of significance, belonging, and fun for all students
• Implement music lessons that emphasize the joy in learning 
• Work collaboratively with the teaching team
• Perform assigned duties such as carpool, lunch, and recess duties
• Demonstrate effective classroom management
• Comfortable using a variety of instructional techniques and practices to meet the learning needs of all students
• Willingness to integrate and learn new technology platforms and applications in meaningful and appropriate ways
• Participate in shared faculty responsibilities and duties as assigned by the Head of Lower School

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Possess a growth mindset 
• Experience working with lower school students
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work on a team and to collaborate with students, faculty, staff and parents
• A collaborative and inquisitive approach to teaching and learning
• A positive attitude and the willingness to approach learning new skills in flexible and creative ways
• Ability to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student collaboration and exploration
• Basic piano proficiency is preferred
• Orff or Kodaly certifications preferred
• At least two years as a classroom teacher 
• Bachelor’s degree required
