Stone Ridge is seeking a Long Term Substitute Fourth Grade Teacher from early November 2024 through mid-March 2025. 

Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart, a member of the international Network of Sacred Heart Schools, is a Catholic, independent college preparatory school for girls, Grades 1-12, with a co-educational Early Childhood Program, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten.  With over 750 students, and rooted in the Goals of Sacred Heart education, Stone Ridge inspires young women to lead and serve, through lives of purpose that integrate faith, intellect, community, social action, and personal growth in an atmosphere of wise freedom.

The Long Term Substitute Fourth Grade Teacher is responsible for teaching all academic courses in fourth grade in alignment with the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart education. Working closely with colleagues in the Lower School, the long-term sub creates and updates plans for content and continuity of curriculum. In addition to  actively planning with the full time classroom teacher in advance of her leave, the long-term Grade 4 sub collaborates with Learning Strategists and the Lower School Educational Technologist to support all students. The Long Term Substitute Fourth Grade Teacher attends all faculty and employee meetings and maintains good communication with families about student progress through regular progress reports, report cards, and responses to parents’ inquiries. 

The desired candidate:

•  has experience teaching in independent and/or Catholic schools and possesses a Bachelor’s in a relevant field. 
• demonstrates genuine affection for children, a record of successful teaching at this age/grade level, a capacity for working with a range of learning abilities, and experience with integrating appropriate educational technologies into the teaching environment.  
• demonstrates strong writing and communication skills, a capacity for organization, creativity, and flexibility.
