Flintridge Sacred Heart is a Catholic, Dominican, independent, college-preparatory, day and boarding high school whose mission is to educate young women for a life of faith, integrity and truth. We are seeking an experienced math teacher who is capable of teaching all levels of Math and carrying out responsibilities as the department chair. Successful candidates must have a strong background in math. The ideal candidate will be experienced in integrating technology into their teaching, and ready to consider emerging technologies to enhance learning and student engagement. We are looking for a teacher who will convey a love for math, participate in the school community outside the classroom, to support the mission of the school, and collaborate with colleagues in interdisciplinary research-based assignments. As part of an integrated and dynamic faculty, all teachers are involved in co-curricular programs and should share in a commitment to a holistic approach to educating young women.

Attend department meetings and other relevant committees
Department Chair Responsibilities:
Promotes and coordinates the work of one specific academic department of the school in light of the overall school philosophy and policies
Works as a member of the Curriculum Board toward improvement of curriculum and instruction
Is responsible for developing an annual budget and coordinating department expenditures and large requests as needed
Participates in professional training for leadership of academic department (once per term).
Represent department at admissions, advancement and other schoolwide
Assist finance and facilities during capital projects as
Makes recommendations to the Principal and the Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction regarding the scheduling of classes and the assignment of teachers in the department
Coordinates faculty participation in interdepartmental classroom observations.
Assists the Principal and the Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction in the interviewing and selection of new department employees
Coordinates development and implementation of department grading policy with department faculty
Ensures that syllabi for each course by each department member are posted on TologNet at the start of each term.
Encourages teachers in their efforts to collaborate with other departments in the school
Chairs committees for teacher band
Plans and conducts department meetings at least once a month
Documents short term and long-term goals as defined by department members and reports progress to the Assistant Principal of Curriculum and instruction.
Serves as the liaison between Administration, Faculty & Staff
Encourages and coordinates student participation in departmental related contests, societies, conferences, and community activities
Meets with new members of the department and orients them to the department curriculum and norms
Maintains inventory and oversees maintenance of department equipment
Ensures that all department members are trained on technology used by the department., Paycom, Blackbaud, etc.
Reviews cases of academic integrity per the schoolwide academic integrity
Bachelor’s degree in Math or other relevant discipline.
Master's degree preferred.
Minimum of 2 years high school mathematics teaching experience preferred.
Knowledge of current trends.
Excellent classroom management, communication and organizational skills.
Ability to connect with students, parents, and colleagues in a professional manner.
Experience with academic technology and/or an enthusiastic willingness to be trained to employ new tools.
