Job Summary:
The Director of Youth Ministry is responsible for providing vision and coordination of efforts in Christian ministry to the students. S/he will implement programs and services pertaining to the spiritual formation of the students of Don Bosco Cristo Rey in the tradition of St. John Bosco.
This position reports to the VP of Mission. This is a 12-month position.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversees the Youth Ministry Team, which is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive youth ministry program.
Coordinates the recruitment, training, supporting, and evaluation of volunteers in the youth ministry program (adult staff and student leaders)
Plans and oversees all youth ministry related activities/events, including Don Bosco Week, canned food drive, service trips, class retreats, leadership retreats, etc.
Ensures that the Salesian charism and pillars of our school – faith, family, future and fun are implemented throughout the different activities planned
Oversees the planning of liturgical services for the school community (including Mass, prayer services, penance celebrations, etc.)
Oversees the planning and implementation of class retreats, including overnight Senior retreat
Supports the Salesian Educative Pastoral Plan (SEEP) to ensure we are meeting the goals set forth by the school
Provides budgetary information for each fiscal year and manages that budget for the Youth Ministry Department
In collaboration with the school’s Theology Department, is responsible for the Community Service Program
Serve as the liaison with the archdiocesan and Salesian office of youth ministry and their programs, services and resources
Teaches sections of Theology (part-time)

Qualifications
Practicing Catholic
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in theology, religious studies, youth ministry, or a related field.
A minimum of three years of professional experience working with low-income, immigrant, or urban students
Commitment to social justice and working with high school students
Demonstrate a positive attitude
Strong communication skills
Collaborative leadership style
Sensitivity to working in a diverse multi-cultural environment
Understanding and commitment to the educational mission of the Archdiocese of Washington, the Salesians of Don Bosco, and the vision of the Cristo Rey Network

Don Bosco Cristo Rey High School (DBCR) is a private, Catholic, college-prep high school that is a partnership between the Archdiocese of Washington, the Salesians of Don Bosco, and the Cristo Rey Network. DBCR was founded in 2007 in Takoma Park, MD, and now serves 400 students of diverse backgrounds from financially challenged families who live in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. DBCR also has a unique Corporate Work Study Program that places students in local businesses and non-profits where they learn the expectations of the corporate world and earn over 50% of the cost of their education.
