Social Studies Teacher, Grades 6-8 Title: Middle School Social Studies Teacher, Grades 6-8, Full-Time, school year (180 days) Reports to: Principal Location: All Saints Catholic School, 166 State Street, Bangor Maine 04401
Overview: All Saints Catholic School located in Bangor Maine is within the Diocese of Portland, Maine. Works diligently to support and strengthen the Catholic Church and its values by word and example. Teachers support all of the official religious teachings of the Catholic Church throughout their personal and professional lives. Job Responsibilities • Develops and administers school grade-level curriculum consistent with Diocesan goals and objectives of the Hartford Curriculum • Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to whole group, individualized, and small-group instruction • Develops detailed lesson plans and related instructional materials outlined in the Hartford Curriculum • Translates lesson plans into learning meaningful experiences; differentiates instruction based on student learning style and needs • Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning including NWEA testing fall, winter and spring • Continues professional knowledge of developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops, courses, and professional meetings • Encourages parental involvement in student education and ensures effective communication to students and parents • Administers NWEA standardized tests in accordance with Diocesan assessment programs • Actively participates in faculty meetings, committees and fundraising events • Participates in activities outside of the classroom involving students sports and enrichment activities
Qualifications: •BS/BA Degree in Social Studies Education or related field •Maine Department of Education certification in Social Sciences (History) 5-9 or Social Sciences 6-12 is required; conditional or professional •Excellent classroom management skills •Strong oral and written English communication skills, including clear speaking voice, good spelling and grammar required •Highly organized and the ability to collaborate on a team •Knowledge of basic tenets of Catholic Church •Must have a professional demeanor and strong classroom presence with students •Passion for teaching social studies and continuing their professional education •Ability to collaborate with the middle school team, support staff, parents, clergy, and community members Benefits include: • Competitive Salary Package which includes: health care, continuing education, dental and retirement contributions • Tuition Benefits for children •
