Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School within the Diocese of Venice in Florida, Inc. works diligently to support and strengthen the Catholic Church and its value system. By word and example, teachers support all of the official religious teachings of the Catholic Church throughout their personal and professional lives. 

Our faculty embrace the purpose of teaching and witness the tenets of the Catholic Faith, instill a sense of Christ’s mission, charity and service to others; draw the school community into worship and to build, support and maintain a Catholic culture throughout the School and create a vibrant Catholic culture within the classroom, emphasized through words, deeds, manner of dress and actions.

Job Responsibilities

• Develops and administers school grade-level curriculum consistent with Diocesan goals and objectives
• Serves in the role of Dean of Academic Services and assists with the overall administration of the school and leading and supporting the school’s daily operations as needed
• Provides a friendly, non-threatening atmosphere for students using advisor services
• Supervises and directs the counselors and teachers within the Academic Services department and the learning resources program
• Design and implement an annual calendar of events and activities for the Academic Services department
• Provides individualized advising for post-secondary planning with students and families utilizing meetings, emails and phone calls
• Conducts in classroom instruction on college and career readiness, Naviance, test scores, college fairs, etc.
• Process college application paperwork including writing recommendation letters for admissions and scholarships
• Continues professional knowledge of developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops and professional meetings
• Develop college workshops for parents and students about high school curriculum, college acceptance, application process, etc.
• Develop and implement after school workshops on interviewing, financial aid, scholarships, and self-reported student academic record
• Actively participates in faculty meetings and committees
• Participates in activities outside of the classroom involving students
• Foster strong relationships with colleges, universities, and trade schools and schedule visits from school reps for individuals and groups of students.
• Monitors academic progress, reviews standardized test score results with students and meets with students and parents when necessary
• Responsible for the school profile

Skills and Experience

• Master’s Degree in related field, or willingness to pursue the appropriate degree in a timely fashion
• College/Academic Advising experience preferred
• Outstanding organizational and leadership skills
• Excellent communications skills both written and oral
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment
• Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students
• Proficiency with computer network systems and software programs
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks with emphasis on meeting tight deadlines
• Ability to work effectively with School and Diocesan employees, department heads, representatives of other agencies, and the general public
• Adherence to the Diocese of Venice Code of Conduct with emphasis on confidentiality
• Undergoing a FDLE Level 2 background check
