Saint David’s School seeks a Mathematics teacher for September 1, 2023. Saint David’s is an independent elementary school for boys, located in Manhattan. Founded in the Catholic tradition, the school welcomes everyone.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Teach mathematics, Grades 4 – 8
Where appropriate, form interdisciplinary connections, and integrate technology and inquiry-based learning
Collaborate with colleagues and administrators to develop signature units that showcase students’ thinking and presentation skills
Participate fully in grade-level and faculty meetings
Attend chapel and give chapel talks; attend lunch and special student activities such as class plays and concerts
Maintain effective professional communication with students, parents, teachers, and administrators through a variety of media, including meetings, conferences, and formal academic reports
Engage in ongoing professional development
Qualifications and Preferences:
Dynamic, hands-on teacher who emphasizes problem solving while building essential knowledge
Commitment to professional development and mathematics curriculum development
BS in mathematics or a related discipline; MS or Ed.M in Mathematics or Mathematics Education
Exceptional communication skills, including polished writing skills
Facility with a variety of software programs
Commitment to boys’ education and character education
Collegiality, flexibility, humor
