St. Mary Academy - Bay View is seeking a part-time Lower School Library Media Specialist for the 2023-2024 school year. The Specialist is committed to providing a student-centered environment that encourages creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving. They are responsible for teaching technology literacy and developing programs that foster student-centered teaching with technology. The Specialist will oversee the library and guide it toward future possibilities. Candidates must be committed to an all-girls and Mercy Education.
Responsibilities: Work with Lower School faculty to champion project-based learning experiences, including interdisciplinary design challenges and digital storytelling.
Conduct weekly lessons for grades Pre-K-5 that demonstrate a passion for and extensive knowledge of children’s literature, publishing trends, and authors; promote literacy and reading for fun through special programs such as National Library Week, summer reading lists.
Keep necessary library records, such as usage statistics, maintain LS library catalog, collaborate on the annual Book Fair.
Advise teachers and families on digital citizenship and emerging technology trends.
Support teachers to integrate technology into lessons and projects.
Participate in ongoing professional development on emerging technologies, curriculum design, and pedagogies relevant to instructional technology.
