Position Overview and Responsibilities
St. John’s Prep seeks a committed learning Specialist who is experienced in working with students and families in grades 6 through12. This full-time position will report to the Director of the Center for Learning and Academic Success (CLAS).
The Learning Specialist will:
Collaborate with instructional coaches to provide resources and support for teachers as they design and implement lessons for a variety of learners.
Partner with middle and high school teachers in differentiating curriculum for students based on their unique learning profiles to ensure all students are adequately challenged and engaged.
Create and facilitate professional learning experiences for faculty and staff.
Create and deliver in-person and/or virtual parent/family educational programming/resources.
Meet 1:1 and in small groups with students to provide coaching around executive functioning skills.
Represent CLAS at school events.
Skills and Competencies
Utilize a variety of electronic devices and applications for teaching and learning.
Work collegially with school counselors and other members of the faculty/staff to support students and families who access the Center for Learning and Academic Success (CLAS) services.
Collaborate with colleagues in CLAS and the Writing Center to provide educational opportunities that support and encourage awareness and skill building for students, faculty/staff and parents.
Model a commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
Education and Experience
Minimum of 3-5 years of teaching experience
Experience creating and facilitating professional learning experiences for faculty and staff.
A bachelor’s degree (master’s degree preferred) in Special Education or related field.
