The Associate Superintendent serves as a collaborative team member within the Catholic Schools Office (CSO) to implement current programs and achieve goals as outlined by the Catholic Schools Office. The role of the Associate Superintendent is focused primarily on assisting the Superintendent in promoting excellent, healthy, and sustainable schools. The position is also responsible for acting as an intercessor and liaison between school leaders, pastors, and Nebraska Department of Education.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the Superintendent and CSO staff in the implementation of the Archdiocese of Omaha Visions and Priorities and all current CSO activities.
Assist the Superintendent and pastors with teacher and leadership development, and evaluation processes and procedures.
Collaborate with Pastoral Offices to provide support to pastors in leadership development.
Assist CSO on planning new administrator orientation processes, regular/annual administrator meetings, and creating principal academies.
Collaborate with CSO staff to establish goals and objectives for staff development programs for administrators, and emerging school leaders.
Meet with building level administrators to align professional development goals to School Improvement Plans and Strategic Plans
Work with building level administrators and Administrator of Standards and Assessment in analyzing data to determine school improvement focus areas.
Serve as a liaison for NDE on Cognia and Frameworks visits.
Assist administrators with Accreditation visit preparation to ensure school accreditation and approval by the State.
Facilitate early education best practices in all elementary schools across the Archdiocese to include standards and instructional practices.
Apply Restorative Practices in conflict situations in a variety of school and parish settings.
Facilitate ad hoc committees to addresses needs in the Archdiocese.
Facilitate trainings to support school and parish leaders such as Restorative Practices, and Professional Development topics.
Provide support and guidance to school leaders for academic, personnel, or student discipline issues, as well as any parent concerns that are voiced.
As necessary, assist school leaders and Pastors to:
Ensure the appropriate administrative procedures, policies, and schedules are in place for the effective operation of each school.
Provide guidance in the hiring process of a building level principal.
Providing leadership for the principals in the development of educational programs, the improvement of instruction, and school improvement activities.
Facilitate curriculum planning and school improvement needs.
Collaborate with Administrators and Student Services staff (teachers, counselors, paras) to…
ensure state and federal compliance in student service programs
access, disseminate and apply available resources (federal and state funding)
explore and develop Archdiocesan programs that can support MTSS practices and compliance with Archdiocesan, state and federal guidelines.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
A thorough understanding of Catholic school philosophy and the teaching mission of the Roman Catholic Church.
Understanding of evangelization and religious formation in children and adults.
Demonstrated commitment to the mission of the Church and fidelity to her teachings.
Demonstrated expertise in instructional leadership, curriculum development, teacher supervision, and effective instruction.
Demonstrated knowledge of early childhood education.
Superior written communication skills, public speaking, and public relations acumen.
Excellent supervisory and managerial skills, capable of overseeing multiple programs simultaneously and ability to prioritize prospects and activities.
Ability to effectively lobby a varied stakeholder group.
Ability to lead and direct strategic planning and organizational management efforts.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED)
Master’s Degree in Educational Administration or related field.
Valid Nebraska Administrator Certificate or ability to obtain one.
Previous, successful experience as a principal or president of a Catholic elementary or secondary school.
Proven expertise in leading all facets of a Catholic school program.
Training in Restorative Practices or have a willingness to receive the training.
Successful public relations experience.
