The Assistant Principal is part of the Administrative Team, working collaboratively with the Principal to develop within the school a strong Catholic identity. The Assistant Principal assists the Principal in the administration of the school, has a complete understanding of the school’s mission and philosophy an is committed to supporting and implementing the vision of the school and parish. The Assistant Principal shall have or be working toward Catechist certification, as required by the Diocese of Las Vegas. The Assistant Principal shall have a minimum of three years of professional experience in a Catholic school, e.g. teacher, administrator, counselor.
The Principal shall appoint an Assistant Principal(s) whose functions include but are not limited to:
Assist the Principal in the administration and supervision of the school in those areas delegated by the Principal.
Make all decisions necessary to operate the school in the absence of the Principal.
The Assistant Principal is trained to administer the school in the absence of the Principal.
Essential Job Functions:
Supports the mission of the Roman Catholic Church, the Diocese of Las Vegas, and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic School in word and action
Conducts classroom observations, supports teachers, and provides input pertaining to evaluations for faculty members and support staff
Supports the Principal in the administration of the school’s discipline policies and procedures
Responsible for the preparation of all annual WCEA Reports (in collaboration with faculty): (School Profile, Data Analysis Templates, Annual Progress Reports, Catholic Identity, and In-depth Studies)
Serves as the school’s Self Study Chair for WCEA Accreditation
Reviews all lesson plans weekly to ensure they have been prepared in accordance with School and Diocesan policies
Reviews all grade books weekly to ensure both Summative and Formative assessments are recorded in a timely manner and in accordance with School and Diocesan policies
Oversees the administration of annual Terra Nova testing
Conducts weekly grade-level PLC meetings with teachers
Serves on the Student Admissions Committee
Assists in the teacher interview process
Oversees lunch and recess supervision duties
Serves as a member of the school’s Student Support Team (SST)
Other duties as necessary including those assigned by the Administration
Other Functions:
Assists other personnel as necessary for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities
Regularly attends meetings and trainings as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions
This is a full-time position, Monday-Friday. Work hours are 7:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Salaries are competitive and include a full benefits package. The successful candidate will be an active, faith filled-Catholic and possess/or be able to obtain a Nevada State Teaching License with a K-8 endorsement.
Preferred qualifications include: a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, previous teaching experience in a K-8 setting, possesses an Administrative Credential or Advanced Degree, Endorsement or Certificate in Leadership, demonstrated experience of strong classroom management skills, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
