Melbourne Central Catholic High School is an institution founded in the Franciscan tradition. The Franciscan Sisters of Allegany, New York were instrumental in the early development of MCCHS and actively served as teachers and administrators in the school from 1962-1989. They lived in the love and joy of the Gospel and imaged this love through their actions. The Sisters reflected the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi to the community through their tireless promotion of generosity, humility, inclusivity, and integrity.
Now in 2023, rooted in the tradition of St. Francis of Assisi and the legacy of the Sisters, Melbourne Central Catholic High School is a transformative, college preparatory Catholic high school that develops young women and men in an inclusive community to become servant leaders of our global society.
A co-educational high school in the Diocese of Orlando, MCC currently serving over 400 students in Brevard County and surrounding counties.
The school’s 44-acre campus includes seven classroom buildings, a gymnasium, a multi-purpose room, a technology center, an administrative building, and an outdoor athletic complex.
Centered in the Catholic faith and Franciscan Charism, the school community seeks to inspire Christ-filled lives nourished by prayer and grounded in Franciscan virtues.
Humility: Humbling ourselves so that we may seek and promote the good in all creation. St. Francis of Assisi states: “Sanctify yourself and you will sanctify the world.”
Integrity: Choosing words and actions that reflect our inner goodness. St. Francis of Assisi states: “It is no use walking anywhere to preach unless our walking is our preaching.”
Generosity: Serving without question; giving without expectation; loving without exception. St. Francis of Assisi states: “The good you do today may be the only good new a person will hear.”
Inclusivity: Embracing diversity and respecting our differences. St. Francis of Assisi states” No one is to be called an enemy. You have no enemy except yourself.”
The charism of St. Francis of Assisi renews our Catholic identity and our Franciscan tradition. When we embody these charisms, we help foster a community of faith and love.
This faith begins with the family and extends to the Melbourne Central Catholic High School community as it nurtures the total personal and spiritual growth of all.
