Gonzaga's new Assistant Vice President for Employee Experience will be responsible for our colleague- facing HR functions, talent acquisition and colleague relations.
Reporting to the Vice President for Human Resources, the Assistant Vice President for Human Resources (AVPHR) oversees day to day customer facing aspects of HR. The AVPHR plays a crucial role in providing leadership and development of human resource services, policies, and programs in support of the University mission and strategic priorities as it relates to recruitment, retention, and development of all Gonzaga employees.
Responsible for leadership and coordination of high-quality, comprehensive human resources programs and services that support the institution's mission, values and strategic plan core services include but are not limited to nondiscrimination, Title IX, diversity and inclusion, employee training, benefits, worker's compensation, leaves of absence, recruitment, international employment/visa advocacy, on and off-boarding, appointment, performance management, employee relations, compensation, professional development and organizational effectiveness. As a trusted resource and model for the entire university community, the AVPHR creates an atmosphere of trust, professionalism, integrity, openness and teamwork and acts as an agent. The primary purpose of the AVPHR position is to provide expertise in the areas of strategic operations, institutional initiatives, and business operations management, all within the sphere of human resources. The AVPHR represents Human Resources initiatives and functions, partners and collaborates on policy administration.
Advance the HR Transformation Effort to help HR continue to evolve and provide a greater level of strategic and consultative services. Promote principles of diversity, equity and inclusion in all human resources policies, procedures and practices.
Minimum Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, the selected candidate must bring a broad HR perspective with experience in large- scale transformation, change leadership, and relationship- building. This role will require the ability to reposition Gonzaga's current talent acquisition process to a model that is proactive, developing pipelines of talent and leveraging succession opportunities within our employee community. It is essential that the successful candidate has excellent relationship- building and investigation skills to develop and nurture others within our HR and supervisory team through equitable leadership of the employees entrusted to their care.

The successful candidate for the AVPHR role will have a deep understanding of human resources within the higher education context, including strong knowledge of laws and regulations governing all areas of human resources and environmental health and safety.
The individual will bring to the table experience in strategic planning, change management, process improvement, data driven decision making, and system implementation.
Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree and ten years of relevant experience within higher education, five of which must be at the senior management level.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as is a demonstrated leadership track record
SPHR certification or other relevant HR certifications are required.
