About Doane Stuart

Doane Stuart was established in 1975, as an Early Childhood - Grade 12, coeducational college preparatory school, with the merger of two Albany schools—Kenwood Academy, founded in 1852, and St. Agnes School, founded in 1870—that were rooted in the Roman Catholic and Episcopal traditions. The resulting organization is a place where students of all faiths grow and learn together. The school’s emphasis is interfaith; most faiths are celebrated, and students learn about all the world’s major religions. Students are asked to understand why so many people in the world choose a life of faith; they are urged to study many religions, but not required to choose one. The community is based on tolerance and respect. It is a place to grow your mind and build your heart.  As a co-educational interfaith school, we welcome students of all backgrounds and traditions. Position Description

Doane Stuart is currently looking for an experienced Elementary Teacher for the 2022-2023 school year.  We are looking for a candidate that knows how to create and maintain a warm and engaging classroom environment where all children can thrive and grow.  Our students participate in activities that promote the joy of discovery.  Students develop cultural awareness and social responsibility, which in turn prepares our students for lives of meaning and purpose

The teacher will be expected to plan, deliver, and evaluate lessons learned in a warm, inviting classroom.  Successful candidates should demonstrate strong differentiation skills, with an excitement to use them.  The teacher will be responsible for the delivery of the Doane Stuart curriculum, engaging students in active learning, using effective strategies, and encouraging critical thinking and interests with positivity and professionalism. The teacher will be expected to partner with students, parents, administration, staff, and colleagues. Above all, the candidate must possess a dedication to teaching and a love of children.

Preferred qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Education
• at least 2 years of prior teaching experience
• ability to incorporate technology into teaching and learning 
• experience working as a Learning Specialist with elementary-age students a plus
