The CWSP Coordinator will be a key team member of the Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP) at San Miguel High School. Through the Corporate Work Study Program, every student works five full days per month to fund a large portion of their education, gain job experience, grow in self-confidence, and realize their future postsecondary goals. Students work at law firms, banks, hospitals, universities, and with other professional corporate partners.
Summary of Job Responsibilities: As a member of the Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP) team, this position will interact with students, school personnel, and business leaders to execute the transformative Cristo Rey Work Study Program model alongside CWSP staff. The primary duties of this role include teaching students job skills, managing the relationships between the school and its job partners, and assisting in the coordination and operations of the overall program.
Core Responsibilities:
- Corporate Partner Relations
Lead the relationship management for an assigned portfolio of corporate job partners to ensure job retention and satisfaction with student workers.
- Help prepare and process necessary paperwork, on-boarding requirements, tax forms, documentation, and work permits for students of assigned job partners
- Organize student-parent work agreement to be sent to all corporate partners, per DOL requirements
- Coach supervisors on how to best maximize the efficiency of student workers d. Provide regular and timely updates to the VP of CWSP Operations on any issues regarding assigned corporate job partners
- Assist with other job partner related activities such as job partner Orientation, Draft Day, Career Day, partner appreciation events, etc.
- Assist students in scheduling make-up days, holiday work-days, and overseeing the collection of forms and recording of data associated with these days
- Conduct a minimum of 2 site visits per year; spending approximately 20% of time visiting partners and students in the workplace
- Check-in monthly with all corporate partners
- Log all site visits and important information regarding partners in Salesforce j. Maintain positive and professional relationships with all supervisors and businesses to ensure 90% retention of the businesses for which you are responsible each year
- Student Formation, Coaching, & Performance Reviews
- Check time cards each morning, respond to all timecard issues within 24 hours. Organize on-site remediation when needed
- Support and provide feedback to students with low-scoring timecards, supervisor surveys, and pulse checks
- Student Professional Development
- Teach two CWSP classes (workplace skills) per day (five days per week)
- Teach classes during SMHS Summer Step Up program (3 week summer training program for incoming freshmen)
- Parent Communication
- Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student feedback, workplace conduct, and positive student reviews
- Serve as the primary point of contact for parents regarding their student’s work performance and progress
- Conduct parent-student conferences to discuss and evaluate student performance as necessary
- Transportation, Dress Code, & Attendance
- Help coordinate morning check-in and enforce dress code
- Assist with transporting students to and from work as needed if bus driver(s) becomes ill or unavailable (required of all CWSP staff)
- Track, document, and communicate attendance and fees through PowerSchool and through documentation sent home to families
- Student-Worker Human Resource Duties
- Organize all student CWSP paperwork for registration and ensure completion before the start of work
- Work directly with the Registrar and other staff to prepare for registration events. Inform CWSP team of all information regarding registration events and expectations
- Run all student I-9 paperwork through E-Verify system
- Assist with student drug testing (including transport to testing facility)
- Organize all parent-student work agreements for corporate partners
- Responsible for all student file creation and maintenance
- Other Duties
- Occasional weekends required to assist with student registration, conferences, interviews, and open houses
- Weekly meetings with CWSP team
- Assist with other CWSP duties and administrative tasks as assigned
- Schedule and coordinate jobsite orientations and any preliminary work (TB tests, drug screens, etc.) as needed; follow-up with supervisors on all new students in a timely manner e. Collaborate with the VP to ensure appropriate preparation and orientation for new partners f. Ensure successful job placements for all student employees: Work closely with other CWSP team members to ensure quality student-team arrangements for each job and match each student’s capabilities, skill sets and interests to the needs of each job
Qualifications: Successful applicants will embody the mission-commitment, intellectual curiosity, openness to growth, optimism, and enthusiasm that are central to the members of San Miguel High School’s team. In addition, applicants should meet or exceed the following requirements:
- Organized, excellent communications skills and technologically savvy (SalesForce, Excel, Powerschool)
- Valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and ability to drive 14-passenger bus - Bachelor's degree or higher
- Conversational Spanish required
- Superior written and oral communication skills
- Sensitivity to the ethnic, racial, and religious backgrounds
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently in a fast-paced environment - Flexibility and adaptability as CWSP operations develops
- Customer service skills: ability to work with a range of corporate partners
