The Associate Campus Minster & Service Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of all Service-related activities within the Mission & Ministry Office. This position collaborates with and is supervised by the Director of Mission & Ministry. The Office of Mission & Ministry is responsible for promoting the Mission of the John Carroll School and providing a quality campus ministry and pastoral care program to students, faculty & staff, parents, and other members of the John Carroll community. As a representative of The John Carroll School, the employee is expected to support and carry out the school’s Catholic mission.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teaches one Religion class and/or assists with the freshman/sophomore seminar class.
- Mentors/counsels students in the area of faith, prayer, and spiritual development
- Coordinates the Student Service-Learning Requirement, maintains service records, and communicates with students and parents about possible service opportunities
- Maintains, fosters, and develops relationships with different service agencies in the Harford County and larger Baltimore area so to know how the John Carroll community may respond to their needs
- Coordinates school-wide drives such as Thanksgiving Food Drive, Christmas Adopt-A-Family Drive, Catholic Schools Week Drive, etc.
- Schedules and coordinates school-sponsored service experiences, service days, or class wide service days as directed by the administration
- Works with the Religion Department to incorporate service learning into the Religion Curriculum
- Schedules and Coordinates the Sophomore Service Retreat program, facilitates Sophomore Retreat Days and recruits chaperones where appropriate
- Moderates the Student Romero Service Club
- Collaborates with the Director of Mission & Ministry to plan and implement the Freshman and Senior Retreat experiences
- Collaborates with the Director of Mission & Ministry to recruit, train, and supervise Student Peer Ministers
- Assists the Director of Mission and Ministry with school prayer and liturgy experiences
- Coordinates School-sponsored Service Immersion Trips
- Serves as a member of the Peace, Justice, & Moral Courage Committee
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree required in theology, ministry, or religious studies; advanced degree preferred.
- Certification by the Archdiocese of Baltimore, or ability to be certified within three years, required.
- Practicing Catholic, required.
- Previous ministry experience in a Catholic School or parish.
- Proficiency in the use of technology for ministry and education.
- Proven ability to engage students in meaningful dialogue about faith, service to others, and spirituality.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Employment is contingent upon satisfactory state & federal background checks, driving record check, completion of VIRTUS Training, and completion of all required employment paperwork.
