ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Support the mission of Catholic education.
• Understand Catholic theology and beliefs of the Catholic Church.
• Provide professional leadership in organizing, administering, supervising and evaluating system-wide compliance standards.
• Communicate effectively with all members of the Diocese of Savannah Catholic Schools system and community.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Serve as the agent directing system-wide Cognia accreditation for Early Learning and K-12 programs guiding programs in obtaining and retaining accredited status.

• Build and maintain relationships with accrediting agency; chairing and serving on school visitation teams.
• Facilitate ongoing improvement process for renewal of the system-wide accreditation.
• Supervise administrative subcommittee for accreditation.
• Collect and review required annual accreditation reports.
• Conducts Quality Assurance Visits for accreditation.

Serve as Primary Designated School Official (PDSO) for the Diocese and liaison for local school coordinators for the international student program.

• Participate in PDSO/DSO training offered through SEVP/SEVIS, a program of the Department of Homeland Security.
• Coordinate required SEVIS system recertification biannually.
• Supervise local DSOs and administration of SEVIS program.
• Processes I-20 requests.
• Maintain records and register international students enrolled in adjudicated diocesan, parish, and independent schools system wide.

Serve as federal funding liaison for Local Units of Administration (LUAs) in counties where diocesan/parish schools are present.

• Coordinate government programs and federal funding opportunities for schools.
• Navigate and advise on policy for use of federal funding for non-public schools.
• Build and maintain relationships with non-public federal funding education agencies.

Coordinate professional and catechetical certification programs for system-wide school personnel.

• Serve as liaison for the State of Georgia for professional educator certification.
• Processes certification requests and renewals for professional educators in diocesan and parish schools.
• Issue and monitor Alternatives to Professional Certification according to policy.
• Monitor Catechetical certification program.

PERSONAL & PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Practicing Catholic in good standing;
• Master’s degree in the field of education from an accredited college/university;
• Hold current, or be eligible for, Georgia state teaching and/or leadership license;
• Minimum of 5 years teaching experience, preferably in Catholic Schools;
• Catholic school leadership experience preferred; and
• Hold a valid driver’s license, be able to drive and qualify under the diocesan insurance carrier when operating a district vehicle.
• VIRTUS training and a Level 2 criminal background check are required for hiring.
