Mercy High School (mercyhigh.com), a Catholic diocesan college preparatory high school for young women in Middletown CT is seeking a Director of Communications and Public Relations with primary responsibility for managing the school’s website, social media, and producing and distributing marketing, communications and public relations materials, including press releases, in a variety of media. The Director will work closely with the President in designing, implementing and leading a strategic marketing plan to achieve the school’s strategic goals.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in English, journalism or related field. Minimum of three years’ experience in communications, public relations and/or marketing; within a school setting is a plus. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES: • Develops and implements a comprehensive communications and public relations strategy for the school. • Ensures that all school communications are consistent with strategic messages, are of excellent quality, and produced in a cost-effective and timely manner. • Maintains the integrity of the school’s marketing program and image through appropriate use of logos, colors and fonts in a variety of materials. • Produces major publications, including Women of Mercy Magazine and Annual Report. • Manages and maintains the school’s website, including overall design and content, as well as updates. • Maintains the school’s presence in the community through public relations efforts. • Creates and distributes press releases and articles for the media and establishes and maintains positive media relations. • Collaborates with the Director of Admissions to produce marketing materials for student recruitment. • Collaborates with the Advancement Office to produce materials for fund-raising and development, including annual fund solicitation, planned giving initiatives, and capital campaign materials. • Reviews and/or produces letters and print materials (brochures, school profiles, etc.) that are distributed to large audiences. • Develops, creates and implements marketing strategies and posts for Mercy’s social media sites for entire calendar year (creating and/or updating social media profiles, managing regular posts, responding to followers, monitoring online competitor presences, monitoring “chatter”) across multiple networks (such as, but not limited to, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn.) • Work with social media team and all faculty/staff to design and deliver projects that meet Mercy’s strategic plan and business objectives. • Coordinate inventory availability.
