Detailed Description: Duties & Responsibilities:
Affinity Alumni Program Development
Build and manage programs to engage and cultivate alumni with specific affinities or special interests.
Establish programs that facilitate alumni networks and target communication to these alumni populations. Most importantly, the coordinator will establish programs that enable alumni to support current students through mentoring, networking, and leadership development in an environment meant to foster their respective community. Targeted affinity groups will include, but are not limited to:
Underrepresented populations including African American, Latino, Filipino, LGBTQ+, and Native American alumni;
Affinity by student organizations (Greeks, clubs, AS, Mortar Board, etc.);
Affinity by student centers (Community Service Learning, University Ministry, United Front Multicultural Center, Women's Center, etc.);
Athletics teams and club sports;
Young alumni and other populations by generation.
In conjunction with the Advancement Services team, ensure maintenance of alumni database to reflect appropriate affinity selections.
Maintain alumni affinity group webpages.
Student Engagement, Philanthropy, and Partnership Programming
Responsible for student-alumni engagement and alumni brand recognition with current students as well as alumni-student partnership programming.
Advise student leaders in the support of Student Alumni Association (SAA) activities that fulfill the values, mission, and purpose of student-alumni engagement.
Work with the SAA leadership council, director of alumni operations and engagement, and Alumni Board of Directors to develop and implement strategies to continually increase the membership, alumni visibility, and meaningful growth of the SAA.
Utilize the Campus Engagement Form to track alumni speakers with student audiences - provide departments/organizations with alumni branding, promote alumni speakers.
Work closely with the division of Student Affairs, specifically directors of student organizations and Associated Students to identify organizations with strong alumni affiliations in order to create their own alumni outreach opportunities.
Collaborate with campus partners to develop initiatives and programs that provide value to students and alumni.
Creatively integrate the alumni or the Alumni Association into current student programs to enhance the programs and demonstrate to the student body the importance of the life-long affiliation with USD.
Educate student organizations about the importance of alumni engagement and fundraising.
Collaborate with the Office of Development to ensure that student organizations are following proper guidelines when contacting and soliciting alumni.
Create processes with Student Affairs to annually collect student organization membership information for coding into CRM system via Torero Orgs and Salesforce.
Work collaboratively with Annual Giving and Student Affairs to coordinate and execute annual student philanthropy plan, including student philanthropy week, Give and Invest For Toreros marketing and promotion, Senior Class Legacy support, University Torero Store Campaign, etc.
In coordination with central and decentralized development teams, coordinate fundraising activities, cultivate and steward donors (individuals or corporate entities) through visits, personal invitations to events on campus or regionally, and correspondence via phone, email, and mail.
Identify potential donors to the university, assess areas of philanthropic interest against institutional need, and request research on the individual donor or corporate entity to understand capacity.
Scholarship Program Management
Manage the scholarship programs directed by the USD Alumni Association including the USD Alumni Endowed, Daniel L. Burkett III Memorial, Kyle O'Connell Memorial, Therese Whitcomb Alumni, Senior Class Legacy scholarships, and all affinity-based scholarships administered by the Alumni Association.
Work with the senior director and Philanthropy Committee of the Alumni Board of Directors on strategies to increase endowments and educate/create visibility for funds.
Facilitate recognition and stewardship of donors to the scholarship funds, coordinate scholarship selection committees, and steward scholarship recipients.
Manage the student application process and facilitate marketing of all scholarship programs to students.
Facilitate funding of scholarships in coordination with the Office of Financial Aid and follow guidelines for annual payout distribution.
Support the Office of Annual Giving with the annual Torero Tuesday campaign; lead effort to engage volunteers affiliated with fundraising efforts of and scholarships administered by the Alumni Association.
Alumni Association Board of Directors Committee Staffing
Act as a liaison and staff support for at least one committee or task force of the Alumni Association Board of Directors.
Schedule and facilitate meeting dates, teleconferences, logistics, and composition of membership of each committee/task force.
Track committee/task force progress and work with volunteer chair to assure goals are being pursued and met.
Provide constructive feedback to the senior director and Alumni Board Executive Committee on the progress/ viability of the committee/task force.
Ensure committee/task force is moving in the right direction, providing constructive feedback on strategy, goals, and implementation of programs.
Attend all alumni committee meetings.
Update the Fund Report for all committee and board meetings.
Utilize alumni programs, technology, and staff resources; recruit exceptional local and regional alumni to assist the Alumni Association Board and the alumni boards of each school to donate their time in support of the university.
Identify alumni areas of interest and involve them in the appropriate committee, regional event, or board position.
Inform and consult with the senior director and the Leadership Committee of the Alumni Board to suggest nominations of these individuals to the National Alumni Board.
Inform and consult with the development or senior alumni officer at each school to identify opportunities in each school that would be appropriate for their alumni.
Continue stewardship of above-mentioned individuals to assure their satisfaction and interest are maintained.
Represent the Office of Alumni Relations and the Alumni Association at events on and off-campus to build relationships and strengthen partnerships.
Other duties as assigned to assist other departments within the University Advancement division.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree required.
Two years experience in management, event planning, student programming, volunteer leadership and/or fundraising.
Excellent written and oral communication skills required as well as exceptional critical listening and thinking skills
Command of the English language, including AP writing style, and standard grammar, spelling, punctuation, syntax, and proofreading skill.
Must exhibit attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy and excellent organizational skills.
Must be able to work independently, taking initiative and setting priorities in a dynamic environment of regular interruptions, multiple projects, and deadlines.
Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including but not limited to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Knowledge of Publisher or another desktop publishing program is preferable.
Proficient with new technology and CRM platforms.

Knowledge of USDs policies and procedures.
Must be willing to frequently work after standard business hours and on weekends.
