Part-time French Teacher
School of the Holy Child is a 5-12 all-girls, Catholic, independent school in Westchester County, NY whose mission it is to develop “women of conscience and action.” Our founder, Cornelia Connelly, believed that all schools should? ?embody “joy in teaching and joy in learning” and this is evident on our campus each day. Accomplished and dedicated faculty members foster the spiritual development, individual talents and interests of each student. This is realized through rigorous and comprehensive academic, arts, athletics, service and global programs. Our 375 students come from 75 communities throughout the Bronx, Queens, and Westchester in New York, as well as Fairfield County in Connecticut. Holy Child graduates are prepared for the innovative and critical thought necessary in a diverse, interconnected society.
Holy Child seeks an experienced, middle and upper school Spanish teacher. This multi-grade position may include three to four classes in middle and upper school Spanish. Ideal candidates are passionate educators who value interdisciplinary teaching and creative learning experiences. A Holy Child teacher will have the resources of a supportive department and an established curriculum; however, he or she will have the opportunity to tailor or redesign a course to meet his/her interests and passions and the needs of the students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Eighty-percent (80%) position teaching middle school and/or high school French; provide academic support for students outside of class time, as needed
- Work with the Learning Center to support students with learning differences
- Collaborate with the Modern and Classical Languages department and other colleagues to design/map curriculum, create interdisciplinary opportunities for learning, share resources, and evaluate effective methods of teaching; participate in regular meetings with the Department Chair
- Engage with new technologies and methodologies for teaching and assessing
- Show a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion work
- Communicate professionally and compassionately with every member of the community: students, families, and colleagues alike
- Communicate regularly and effectively with Division Deans, the Learning Center, and the Academic Dean about student progress
- Attend and participate in parent conferences and school events
- Participate in grade-level and school-wide meetings, as needed
- Support the students and division by covering study halls, lunch duties and other assignments, as needed
- Work with students in Grades 5-12 through clubs/teams
Coupled with these credentials, the candidate will have a deep understanding of differentiated instruction, a flexible and team-oriented approach, exceptional organizational and written communication skills with attention to detail, and superior interpersonal skills. In addition, candidates with experience in an all-girl, faith-based school and those who will embrace our School's mission of developing women of conscience and action are preferable.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in education or French required; Master’s degree in the Teaching of French preferred
- 1-3 years Middle and Upper School Teaching; an interest in middle school preferred
- Experience teaching similar content is required
- Preference for native or heritage speaker
- Passionate and knowledgeable about progressive education, problem-based teaching and learning and differentiation
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- A good sense of humor and collegial spirit
