POSITION SUMMARY:
The incumbent in this role will support the Office of Alumni Engagement, specifically supporting the recruitment, training, tracking and recognition of the alumni volunteers. The role will have responsibility for the oversight of new and existing affinity and regional volunteer networks including but not limited to the Black Alumni Network and Atlanta Alumni Network. It will also aid the office in expanding upon existing regional opportunities for alumni engagement and volunteerism. This will report to the Director, Alumni Volunteer Networks.
This position is part of our Development Internship Program, which offers a one-year appointment to a talented individual from an underrepresented population. During the year-long program, the individual will receive mentoring, support, and professional development opportunities from Human Resources as well as from a direct supervisor.
As a condition of employment, Duquesne University requires all new employees —full-time and part-time, including adjunct faculty—to get a COVID-19 vaccine and provide proof of their vaccination upon commencement of employment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Development of additional strategic Regional Alumni Networks (formerly referred to as Alumni Chapters) in targeted areas around the country.
-Recruits, trains and promotes ongoing engagement of new leadership.
-Creates and maintains guidelines and resources for regional networks.
-Travels to various regions for events hosted by the area networks.
-Coordinates and manages regular meetings. Meets regularly with leadership of the regional network via virtual channels.
Development of strategic affinity networks, including the emerging Black Alumni Network.
-Recruits, trains and promotes ongoing engagement of leadership.
-Creates and maintains guidelines and resources for the affinity group.
-Serves as primary liaison for leadership.
-Coordinates and manages regular meetings. Meets regularly with leadership of the regional network via virtual channels.
-Manages the “Event in a Box” program for volunteers who want to host an event in a region not supported by an affinity network.
Assists the Director of Alumni Volunteer Networks with the annual Volunteer Summit, including hosting training sessions for various volunteer groups.
Maintains appropriate agreements for alumni volunteers.
Oversees the planning of Homecoming Events for affinity groups.
With the Director of Alumni Volunteer Networks, works to develop a strategy for volunteer recruitment, training, management, and stewardship.
Serves as the liaison for the Center for Excellence in Diversity and Student Inclusion.
Utilizes Tassl to recruit, manage and track volunteers.
Use DukesConnect, a Graduway platform, to engage and grow the number of constituents with our Networks.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum qualifications:
Must be a member of an underserved/underrepresented population to qualify.
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Communications, Marketing, Business or related field.
Preferred qualifications:
Related work experience in a higher education setting.
Alternately, the successful candidate may possess any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
Ability and willingness to travel (approximately 25%). Must be able to lift boxes/items approximately 25 pounds. Must have a valid driver’s license.
Willingness to learn new technologies relevant to the position.
Enthusiasm to seek out work and new assignments.
Good problem-solving skills with a can-do approach.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Zoom, and other related office applications.
Effective organizational and administrative skills.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the University Community.
