JOB OVERVIEW
Villa Academy is seeking a kindergarten long term sub to join our Lower School faculty. This person would act as the lead teacher for an incoming class of kindergarteners, establishing year-long routines and partnering with their grade level teachers to provide kindergarten programming.
Villa teachers are enthusiastic, creative individuals who are child-centered and actively engaged in seeing and developing the full potential of each student. Villa Academy is committed to equity, inclusion, and social justice and we seek educators eager to personally grow and integrate these ideals in their teaching curriculum as well as into their communication with children, families, and colleagues.
The kindergarten lead teacher is responsible for developing and implementing curriculum for humanities, math, science, and religion, as well as a social emotional curriculum. Creating a community of learners who respect and care for one another is also an important role of the kindergarten teacher. Lower School students have specialist teachers for library, Spanish, music, P.E. art, and technology. A school counselor, a Director of Equity, Education, and Inclusion, a learning support team, and a third math teacher in grades 2-5 provide additional support to students, teachers, and families.
Villa has access to a 30-acre outdoor space with trails to the waterfront, a garden, an outdoor learning pavilion and a greenhouse. Faculty enjoy professional development support, opportunities for emerging teacher leaders, and the chance to shape and grow our dynamic program. A knowledge and love of early grade students, a desire to utilize Villa’s outdoor grounds as part of the classroom experience, and the ability to work collaboratively with grade level partners and the lower school team are desired qualities.
