Summary:
The Faculty are committed Sacred Heart educators.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Create curriculum for and teach 5th-8th grade music classes. All 5th and 6th grade students rotate through music and those classes should serve as an introduction to music study. 7th and 8th grade students select an elective to pursue for the year and those classes form the Middle School Choir.
- Create and lead an engaging series of performances and experiences for the MS Choir. Currently this includes a Christmas Concert and spring Pop Concert, as well as participation in TSPMEA events.
- Work with the other music faculty and campus ministers to support our prayer services and Masses throughout the year.
- In addition to these Fine Arts responsibilities, the Music Teacher will fulfill all the duties of a Middle School teacher, such as leading advisories, supervising field trips, etc.
- Plan, organize, and lead activities designed to promote academic, social, and emotional development in a supportive and engaging learning environment
- Create an emotionally responsive, caring, positive, and accepting environment supportive of the individual development of each child and family
- Supervise young children and ensure a safe and loving environment including the ability to monitor and respond to events going on at all times in the classroom, outdoor play areas, and other areas of the campus
- Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students varying needs and interests
- Attend staff meetings, serve on committees as required, seek and attend professional development opportunities
- Evaluate each student’s growth and performance
- Provide constructive feedback to parents
- Prepare and distribute report cards online
Minimum Education/Prior Experience/Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts or equivalent arts training with a degree in a different area.
- Teaching Certificate
- High level of competence using technology
- Experience in a PreK – 12 environment, preferably in independent schools is a plus
- Strong references to convey teaching abilities
- Successful completion of criminal offender record information and sexual offender registry information checks
- Completion of Virtus: Protecting God's Children training
- Current CPR certification
