JOB OVERVIEW

Villa Academy is seeking a dynamic, knowledgeable, early learning educator to serve as a preschool teacher in our excellent preschool program. We seek enthusiastic, creative, and child-centered instructors. Villa has access to a multi-acre outdoor space with wooded trails, a garden, an outdoor learning pavilion and a greenhouse.  Faculty enjoy professional development support, opportunities for emerging leaders, and the chance to shape and grow our dynamic program.

This teacher will be responsible for our play based, five-year-old, pre-kindergarten classroom which is supported by a full time teaching assistant. A school counselor, Director of Equity, Education, and Inclusion, and our school librarian also support the preschool program.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in appropriate field required; valid teaching certificate with an emphasis on early childhood development preferred
• Successful experience working with early childhood learners

• Knowledge of and ability to implement current, developmentally appropriate practices in early childhood education;
• Knowledge and experience in social-emotional curriculum for early childhood, such as Second Step or Zones of Regulation;
• Knowledge and experience in development of early literacy skills for early childhood classrooms, such as Wired for Reading and Handwriting Without Tears;
• Ability to collaborate and team with colleagues as part of a professional learning community;
• Ability to establish and maintain positive partnerships with parent community;
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing;
• Commitment to continuous improvement and professional development;
• Ability to perform the job responsibilities of this position.
