La Lumiere School is thrilled to invite applications for the position of Director of Faith Exploration/World Religions Teacher for the 2022-2023 school year. The ideal candidate should be comfortable teaching World Religion courses, and should be passionate about igniting students’ interest in exploring faith. As an independent, Catholic school, we believe in emboldening students to explore their own faith as they learn about other faiths. In the classroom, we encourage students to go beyond content mastery and develop a sense of wonder and an appetite for lifelong learning. To that end, our teachers strive to meet students where they are, differentiate instruction effectively, and support students’ academic and personal growth.

Primary Responsibilities

• Teach either three or four class sections each semester, including World Religions (two sections) with the option for other electives
• Mentor the Sacristan Prefect and embolden student leaders to develop regular opportunities for students and faculty to explore faith through prayer, meditation, contemplation, and action
• Facilitate the senior retreat (and retreat team), and collaborate with colleagues and students to develop day retreats for freshmen, sophomores, and juniors
• Serve as the steward of sacred spaces on campus
• Coordinate liturgies and prayer services in collaboration with student leaders
• Sponsor/supervise a co-curricular activity during two seasons
• Serve as an advisor to a group of approximately eight students

Desired Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in the relevant academic discipline (master’s degree preferred)
• Three or more years of teaching experience at the secondary level
• Experience working with students outside of the classroom through coaching, mentorship, or other activities preferred
