Come join a team of innovative developers whose mission is to support the success of EagleApps, our new Student Information System. The Application Developer will be responsible for supporting and developing critical applications and related Eagle Apps integrations. This includes but is not limited to degree audit, transfer articulation, course offering, course scheduling, program enrollment, course registration, transcripts, grading, graduation etc. The candidate must have experience with Angular JS to work in the Eagle Apps UI environment. The candidate must also have experience working with Java services to allow him/her to support the Eagle Apps codebase due to the overlap with the work that the team does to load data from Degree Audit into Eagle Apps and vice versa. These development environments are built on open source code, which needs to be upgraded or replaced from time to time to deal with licensing changes, security, or integration issues. Experience supporting vendor applications is not required but highly desirable. More specifically, experience with the CollegeSource uAchieve Degree Audit System is also highly desirable.
Current projects/tasks that this position has been assigned include:
- Providing ongoing maintenance and support for uAchieve Degree Audit and Transfer Articulation modules
- Providing ongoing maintenance and support for the Self-service aspects of the degree audit application
- Updating and enhancing Eagle Apps integrations with uAchieve and other systems
- Updating and enhancing Eagle Apps modules as needed
- Work with Degree Audit vendor on upgrades and patches as required
- Support of the overall Degree Audit uAchieve system
Title and salary commensurate with relevant experience based on the following titles and hiring ranges:
Senior Applications Developer: Minimum of five years of technical experience to include applications development and integration principles and concepts. Previous experience leading technical teams. Hiring range from 90k to 112k
Applications Developer: Minimum of three years of programming experience and at least two years of data analysis, design and implementation experience to include working with user departments to define and assess business needs and programming requirements. Hiring range from 77k to 92k
Associate Applications Developer: Minimum of one year of professional IT experience or 1-3 years as a non-exempt employee working in an IT environment. Hiring range from 70k to 76k
Requirements - Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science or closely related Information Technology field.
- Business and application analysis; object-oriented analysis, design and development.
- Ability to apply analysis techniques and procedures to gather and translate business. requirements into functional/technical specifications and designs.
- Distributed network application concepts and principles.
- Knowledge of security concepts and principles.
- Applications development to include web-based application development tools and integration principles and concepts.
- Working knowledge of network infrastructure components, prototyping paradigms, security issues and production control.
- Experience supporting and developing Java and JavaScript applications.
- Experience with version control systems such as Git.
- Ability to maintain databases and application system code.
- Strong SQL and relational database experience with the ability to model data and enhance database performance.
- Experience with implementing and customizing or extending vendor-provided solutions.
- Programming and scripting experience to work with schedulers and a variety of data transfer techniques.
- Ability to integrate a variety of vendor applications to deliver solutions specific to Boston College
- Ability to work effectively with DBAs, Systems, Security, Network Services, vendors and other technical resources to troubleshoot issues and remedy performance problems.
- Ability to log support issues and work directly with 3rd parties on corrective actions.
- Working knowledge of load and regression testing techniques.
- May be required to work additional hours to meet project/unit deadlines and timelines.
