The Board of Trustees of La Salle Catholic College Preparatory of Milwaukie, Oregon has retained Lester Consulting Group, Inc. (LCG) to facilitate a national search for the school’s next President. The position is available July 2022.
La Salle Prep is one of 21 schools in the Lasallian District of San Francisco New Orleans and part of a worldwide network of schools rooted in the charism of the De La Salle Christian Brothers. The Brothers are exclusively a teaching order and sponsor the largest network of K-12 Catholic schools in the nation.
La Salle Prep opened in 1966 as the first coed private high school in the Portland metropolitan area. It now boasts a 55-year legacy of a faith-based community of excellent education with an annual enrollment of approximately 620 students. The school enjoys an enviable financial position, with no debt and a growing endowment. In 2020 the school completed a successful capital campaign leading to a $5.9 million investment in the new Father Saafeld Athletic Center, bringing the school closer to the completion of a Campus Master Plan.
Inspired by their Lasallian mission, the leadership of the school actively seeks out prospective students on the margins enriching the student body with diversity found in socioeconomic backgrounds, as well as cultural and racial diversity. Over 62% of the student body receives financial aid, including 10% from households that meet a federal poverty standard.
The candidate must be a practicing Catholic who will model a commitment to that faith both personally and professionally. Supported by a strong and experienced administrative team, the next President will be a visionary and energetic leader, who embraces the Lasallian mission of this Catholic community. The successful candidate’s past professional responsibilities will demonstrate innovative and inspirational strategic planning, inspire collaboration from all constituent groups, and display evidence of strong communication skills.
Building on the school’s strong foundation, the ideal candidate will be experienced in institutional advancement as demonstrated by innovative program development and marketing strategies as well as strong business acumen. Competency in change management and implementation, coupled with an understanding of how diversity, equity, and inclusion contribute to the mission of the school, are paramount in taking La Salle Prep to its next level of excellence.
A qualified candidate will have a demonstrated professional leadership progression of 10 years in an academic, nonprofit, or professional arena. Experience must include management of a leadership team, budgetary responsibilities, communications and marketing, and strategic planning. Candidates will have a strong record of achievement in revenue growth, as well as a working knowledge of capital campaign fundraising, scholarship programs, and planned giving.
