The primary purpose of this position is to support faculty in their use of educational technologies in face-to-face, online, and blended courses. The Instructional Designer will be responsible for teaching faculty online and blended-learning pedagogy and course design through consultations and the development and facilitation of group trainings and online training modules.
The candidate will also work with the end-users to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues and, when necessary, escalate the issue to the appropriate departmental team member, University partner, or vendor. This position will also work with the rest of the Educational Technology team on documentation, testing, training, and implementation of the various Ed Tech software and tools.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Guides faculty in their use of technology to meet instructional goals and student learning needs.
Collaborates with teammates to design and conduct faculty and staff professional development trainings and self-guided tutorials on supported educational technologies.
Works with faculty and other subject matter experts to design online and hybrid courses.
Works with faculty to enhance face-to-face courses through the integration of educational technologies.
Provides faculty and staff technical and pedagogical support in their use of the University’s Learning Management System (LMS) and other academic educational technologies via in-person consults, telephone, ticketing system, and web-conferencing software.
Troubleshoots technical issues with Educational Technology supported software, including the University’s Learning Management System (LMS), web-conferencing software, and a variety of other teaching and learning tools.
Works with other Instructional Designers and Duquesne’s Online Learning & Strategy team to facilitate the University’s Foundations of Online Teaching and Learning course. The course teaches faculty how to apply best practices in online pedagogy using the Backward Design method.
Collaborates with Educational Technology staff and other stakeholders on testing, implementation, documentation, and support of both existing and new University educational technology tools.
Creates and maintains technical and support documentation and videos for supported University educational technology tools.
Bachelors required from an accredited institution in information science or related field.
Requires 3-5 years’ experience in Instructional Design.

· Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously;
· Ability to work on tasks individually and as part of a team.
Masters preferred from an accredited institution in information science or related field.
Requires 3-5 years’ experience in Higher Education and LMS experience preferred.
