Founded in Chicago in 1876, Sacred Heart Schools at Sheridan Road (Hardey Preparatory for Boys and Academy of the Sacred Heart for Girls) are independent, Catholic, single-sex elementary schools committed to academic excellence within the context of a Christian, faith-based community. The educational mission is deeply rooted in the 200-year tradition of the Society of the Sacred Heart and shared with the Network of Sacred Heart Schools located in 30 countries; including 25 schools in the United States and Canada. The essence of this tradition is the total development of each child: spiritual, intellectual, social, emotional and physical. Our girls and boys are taught in single-sex classrooms, but follow a similar curriculum and share in many activities. With a total enrollment of approximately 700 students, the Schools are organized into three academic divisions each led by a division head.
Sacred Heart Schools is seeking a Technology Systems Administrator to join its team of service-driven professionals committed to fully supporting the Schools’ mission and goals. The position’s initial areas of focus will be working closely with the Director of Technology maintain a robust and secure network infrastructure to support all users. The position’s responsibilities will evolve as warranted by the candidate’s performance and the needs of the Schools. The Technology Systems Administrator role will report directly to the Director of Technology, with the assistance of the Technology Systems and Services Coordinator and will support technical stability, integrity, and consistency of the philosophy and Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Schools.
Essential Job Functions:
Maintain a secure Windows server/network environment including wireless access, file/print/exchange servers, firewall, virus protection, backups, user login accounts and infrastructure in the academic program, and throughout all areas of the Schools
Ensure that the network is technically secure from cyber-security threats by monitoring activity, conducting network and policy audits, and maintaining an Incident Response Plan
Maintain IT disaster recovery for the school
Perform system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, wireless network, server resources, systems, key processes, and infrastructure
Install, configure, and troubleshoot network and wireless hardware, software and infrastructure including routers, switches, hubs, servers, cabling, wireless, printers, terminal connectivity, and e-mail systems
Document network infrastructure and administrative procedures
Ensure all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media
Implement technical technology-related directives, approved plans and hardware and software replacement, redistribution, and upgrade programs
Provision classrooms, the Library, staff offices, and other of the Schools’ facilities with technology hardware, software, and network connectivity in accordance with directives and approved plans and priorities
Installing, configuring, and troubleshooting end-user software applications, online services, and hardware
Assist in the maintenance of the technology hardware and software inventory
Assist in the disposal of technology hardware no longer needed by the Schools
Maintain an awareness of new technology products, trends, and advances
Research and recommend new technologies
Assist in end-user requests for technical assistance and repairs
Perform onboarding and offboarding procedures for all employees
Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Technology

Minimum of 5 years of experience in the development, installation, and maintenance of information systems, preferably in an education, non-profit, or public-sector environment
A proven track record of providing functional and progressive value to organizations through operational analysis, planning, service excellence, and project integration management
Strong interpersonal skills, collaborative work orientation, and proven performance results.
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to effectively elicit information and convey technology content to technical and non-technical audiences
