To provide a comprehensive counseling program for students in grades 9-12 and specifically provide activities to meet their academic and college admission needs. Consult with teachers, parents, and staff to enhance their effectiveness in helping students; and provide support to other high school programming.
Knowledge of current trends in guidance counseling and ability to write, develop and effectively implement guidance curriculum, individual planning, responsive services, and systems support per Guidance Counseling standards.
Coordinate and proctor standardized tests and analyze results for students and parents.
Excellent communication and listening skills with the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with students, parents, and staff.
Collect, organize, and analyze information about individuals through records, tests, interview, and professional sources, to appraise their interests, aptitudes, abilities, and personality characteristics, for educational and career counseling.
Monitors and supports students in career development, post-secondary planning, attendance, progress reports, and other information.
Knowledge and experience with college advising College Credit Plus, online learning, and dual enrollment.
Evaluate and revise the building counseling program to effectively meet student needs.
Conduct counseling activities in the classroom in conjunction with administration and staff.
Organize, oversee, run and attend various parent meetings and award ceremonies. E.g. College Nights, Honor’s Convocation, Graduation and other informational gatherings.
Assist administration with master scheduling.
Familiarity with Power School and Naviance.
Assist in continuous program of student orientation, testing out process and summer school.
Update and maintain confidential student records including cumulative transcripts and student files.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or President.
Is the AP Coordinator and NCAA Clearinghouse.
Maintains consistent, predictable, and physical attendance to meet the requirements of the position.
