The Vice President of Business Development will lead Conifer Value-Based Careâ��s (VBC) sales and business development team and sales strategy to achieve revenue goals and expand Coniferâ��s client base nationwide. The Vice President Business Development will be accountable for management of the full sales process, including target market development, prospecting, corporate presentations, and deal closure while continuously driving significant revenue growth. This role provides the strategic thought leadership for all Value-Based Care target markets from self-insured employers to risk-bearing providers as well as health plan and technology strategic partners. The individual collaborates with senior leaders across Conifer Health to ensure all new business prospects fall within the scope of services. This role also manages the tactical support functions essential to sales force productivity, including planning, reporting, quota setting and management, sales process optimization, sales job design, sales training, sales program implementation, sales compensation design and administration. The individual will utilize their network to introduce new prospects and strategic partners, provide input into strategic initiatives for market differentiation, and drive new logo/solution revenue growth.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Create and implement sales and business development strategy to meet annual revenue goals and increase client base
Maintain and create relationships within the healthcare industry. Lead discussions with network to create new logo deals and strategic partnerships.
Lead team of sales professionals to build pipeline, prospect, and drive deal closure. Lead team to maintain deal momentum, identify and remove roadblocks, and oversee preparation of proposals and presentations. Actively develop and enhance skills of sales and sales support team members.
Serve as leader in Conifer VBCâ��s line of business collaborating to set direction and vision for the line of business. Convey vision and direction internally and externally directly and through matrixed team including marketing and operations leaders.
Work closely with sales and Value-Based Care leadership to define sales targets, budgets and performance management programs. Align reporting, training, and incentive programs with these performance management priorities. Oversee direct reportâ��s use of customer relationship management software for to provide up-to-date customer information and deal status
Working with Human Resources and Conifer leadership, design VBC sales compensation plan and oversee plan administration.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
Must have a thorough understanding of Employer benefits and Provider Value-Based Care markets. Strong command of challenges and risks in Employer benefits, Health Plan, Accountable Care Organization (ACO), Independent Practice Association (IPA) markets.
Strong executive/C-suite relationships with in healthcare industry. Proven ability to serve as trusted partner with leaders across the industry and within the organization.
Experience in being a â��player-coachâ�� as a sales leader both leading individual deal and partnership opportunities while also leading and developing a team of sales executives.
Experience designing and implementing sales effectiveness programs, sales messaging, sales knowledge management, and sales analytics.
Demonstrated strengths in oral/written communications, analytical skills and sales production.
Must be self-motivated, results oriented professional, and enjoy partnering across the organization to execute on strategic priorities
A strategic thought leader, with the ability to develop and deliver long-term plans while remaining nimble enough to respond to immediate market changes and/or opportunities.
Possess a natural curiosity to explore new ideas and assess changes that would give Conifer a competitive advantage
Must be a hands-on leader with the ability to work in a matrixed environment, and with all levels of the organization

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 10 years experience in sales and/or business development of services, consulting, and/or BPO services within the healthcare delivery sector
Minimum of 2 years leading a business development/sales team in the healthcare delivery sector
Bachelorâ��s degree required, preferred in Healthcare Administration, Business or related area, or equivalent experience
Advanced degree preferred
A track record of continued professional development throughout an executiveâ��s career is expected and desired
Proven experience as a business development leader responsible for all areas of sales process
Experience with a CRM system, preferably Salesforce.com
Must be able to work in sitting position, use computer and answer telephone
