Eastside Catholic is seeking a Visual Arts Teacher for the 2021-22 school year. The ideal candidate will have a commitment to our mission and touchstones, promote academic achievement while developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The Visual Arts Teacher should possess excellent communication and classroom management skills and able to work in a collaborative environment. This teacher will be responsible for teaching 3D and 2D classes in the high school.
Develop in each student an interest and aptitude for expressing themselves creatively in the visual arts while utilizing artistic skills and techniques.
Develop aesthetic understanding and appreciation in students, while also developing the student’s individual talents and knowledge of visual arts.
Create and provide students with a positive and safe environment in the classroom.
Collaborate with the other art teachers on curriculum, pacing and supplies; flexibility in sharing supplies and classroom spaces.
Order and inventory supplies.
Keep supply and classroom work areas clean and organized.
Knowledge or desire to learn ceramics, glass fusing, drawing and painting, digital photography, graphic design and AP art courses.
Ability to use technology effectively in the teaching and learning process.
Comprehensive knowledge of curriculum and instruction within the proper content area and/or grade level.
Highly developed collaborative leadership skills and the ability to work well with others.
Ability to foster and maintain a positive school climate.
Uphold Catholic values in all educational student settings, on and off campus
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in visual arts.
A certified teaching certificate for secondary visual arts.
