Saint Ignatius College Prep seeks applications for a full-time Director of School Culture - Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Saint Ignatius College Prep is a Catholic, Jesuit, urban, co-educational, college preparatory high school with 1,450 students in grades 9-12. Founded in 1869, the mission of the school is to prepare its diverse student body for a life grounded in faith and characterized by integrity, lifelong learning, leadership and compassionate service for others.
Position Description: The Director of School Culture - Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion organizes, supervises, and evaluates comprehensive services and programs that are in-line with the mission of Saint Ignatius College Prep. This director supports our diverse student and adult populations. The Director of School Culture - Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion reports to and is directly responsible to the President in collaboration with the Principal.
Assist administrators in creating and sustaining an environment which fosters a respect for the integration of diverse students into the academic, co-curricular, spiritual and social spheres of the school.
Supervise, evaluate, and participate in the hiring of the Diversity Coordinator, including supervising and evaluating the policies, programs, and procedures for which the individual is responsible.
Develop and implement an ongoing in-service for new and current faculty on diversity of economic background, ethnicity, gender, race, religious and sexual orientation.
Assist with identifying and recruiting a diverse faculty and staff.
Assist in outreach and recruiting among under-represented and marginalized populations and communities.
Assist with and participate in the spring Welcoming Reception for potential incoming freshmen.
Collaborate in establishing community and supporting incoming and current students who come from under-represented and marginalized groups.
Assist with the support of freshmen students in their adjustment to the school community.
Design and lead Freshman Orientation Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Session in collaboration with the Diversity Coordinator and other administrators.
Establish, maintain and/or collaborate on school committees focused on Diversity Equity and Inclusion, including: Faculty Diversity Committee; School Diversity Committee; School Culture and Diversity Sub-Committee of the Saint Ignatius Board of Trustees.
Collaborate regularly with the Director of Student Formation and Ministry on school-wide mission initiatives.
Supervise and evaluate the Diversity Coordinator, including supervising and evaluating the policies, programs, and procedures for which she or he is responsible.
Coordinate programs that increase student and faculty awareness, sensitivity and appreciation of diversity and equity issues.
Consult with academic department chairs and Principal’s Office Administrators on curriculum; help design, leading when appropriate, curriculum review around issues of culture, diversity, equity, and inclusion
Act as a consultant for the Deans’ Office and Principal’s Office on disciplinary situations, as appropriate.
Act as the liaison with outside organizations with whom the school is partnering on issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Assist with and lead diversity initiatives.
Serve as a mediator/facilitator of diversity-centered student conflicts.
Serve as a member of the School Leadership and Leadership Advisory Councils.
Coordinate attendance for archdiocesan events of interest to our diverse communities.
Establish and maintain a student-led, student-driven organization that assists in developing and delivering diversity programming to the school community.
Design, develop, and implement diversity, equity, and inclusion-centered professional development and training for members of the adult community.
Design, develop, and implement diversity, equity, and inclusion-centered training and leadership opportunities for the student community.
Stay current on research regarding diversity and regularly share resources with faculty and staff.
Update president, principal, faculty, parents and students on program goals and activities, as appropriate.
Periodically administer and evaluate diversity equity and inclusion surveys to the community to gain insight into diversity ideas, issues and successes.
Participate in national and regional Jesuit Schools Network (JSN) activities related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Prioritize and encourage participation and engagement in leadership opportunities afforded by the JSN and Saint Ignatius College Prep.
Collaborating with departments and individuals on issues of school culture, diversity, equity, and inclusion
Other duties, as assigned.
