Stone Ridge is seeking an Upper School Theology Teacher to begin August 16, 2021.
Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart, a member of the international Network of Sacred Heart Schools, is a Catholic, independent college preparatory school for girls, Grades 1-12, with a co-educational Early Childhood Program, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten in Bethesda, Maryland. The Upper School Theology Teacher is responsible for teaching five sections of theology in alignment with the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Education. Working closely with colleagues, s/he creates and updates plans for content, quality, and continuity of curriculum. S/he actively collaborates with Learning Strategists and Educational Technologists to develop strategies to support all students, and s/he works with the Counseling staff in developing social-emotional programming. S/he attends all faculty and employee meetings, participates in the Social Action Program, serves as an Advisor, fulfills other faculty duties, and maintains good communication with families about student progress through regular progress reports and responses to parents’ inquiries.
The ideal candidate has experience teaching theology and possesses a BA or MA in theology. An early career candidate is encouraged to apply, especially if s/he has an interest in developing the pedagogy, career, and profession of education. S/he should be a practicing Catholic with the ability to be certified as a religion teacher in the Archdiocese of Washington. S/he has a capacity for working with a range of learning abilities and integrating educational technologies into her/his teaching. Ideally, s/he is familiar with Understanding by Design as the School’s pedagogical approach to instruction.
Compensation includes salary commensurate with experience and education.
