The Executive Director of Development will oversee the range of fundraising activities related to established priorities for assigned gift officers within LMU's development team, as well as the development administrative team. Under the direction of the Associate Vice President for University Advancement, and in collaboration with other team members within University Advancement and the University, the executive director will design, implement, and manage a comprehensive program to secure private support from individuals, corporations, and foundations. The executive director will integrate and expand programs for principal, major and special gifts into a cohesive plan to achieve stated objectives. The primary focus of this position is to provide team leadership, strategy for major and principal gift fundraising, volunteer management and oversight of administrative support to development team. The position will be responsible for building strong relationships with unit heads and will play an important role in managing the major gift officers to ensure success in achieving aggressive metrics and annual goals.

Minimum ten years of successful major gift fundraising experience. Experience in raising funds from individuals; demonstrated success as a creative and effective manager with expertise in personnel management, strategic planning, program implementation, and fiscal management; preferred experience in an academic environment, especially at large, complex institutions; demonstrate success in developing an effective volunteer structure. Demonstrated ability to set priorities, coordinate multiple projects and personally ask and close gifts. Willingness to travel and work occasional weekend/evening hours. Deal effectively and comfortably with high-level donor prospects. A self-directed worker who is personable and well organized. Utilize a creative approach to fundraising projects. Ability to effectively communicate the vision, values and mission of Loyola Marymount University.
Experience in preparing comprehensive reports and executive summaries incorporating complex, highly technical information.
Highly developed organizational, communication and leadership skills.
Demonstrated computer competency and preferably knowledgeable of Microsoft Office products as well as familiarity with the Advance system or an equivalent system.
