The Dean of the Lower School is an integral member of a senior leadership team led by the Principal. The Dean will contribute to building and realizing the shared mission of excellence and high standards for all students as part of this collaborative team.
The Dean fosters the mission and objectives of the entire academy by ensuring that the goals and objectives of the Lower School are coherent across the Academy. He or she is responsible for creating and sustaining a learning environment in which all members of the Lower School community- students, staff, and families, are welcomed and thrive.
The Dean will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Lower School’s academic program in grades PK through 5. He or she will serve as the primary liaison with parents and families; and work closely with the Principal and Vice Principal to ensure the coherence and success of the Lower School.
Share direct accountability for the successful delivery of the Academy’s mission as a whole;
Support, plan, manage and ensure individual student achievement meeting curricula expectation in the Lower School;
Teach classes occasionally, develop rapport with the students, and handle specific student concerns and issues;
Assist in the day-to-day running of the Academy
Be a member of the Academy Leadership Team taking a comprehensive view of policy and curricula implementation; in addition to assuming the many and various tasks required by Academy leaders;
Ensure that all students across the full ability range have maximum support and opportunities to reach their full potential and become effective and valued participants in a global society;
Play a leading part in the Academy’s community by being present for all events, modeling expectations for staff, and all other activities that demonstrate building a strong culture.
FACULTY AND STAFF
Maximize the effectiveness of all stakeholders in promoting an inclusive Academy culture;
Evaluate outcomes and ensure curricula and professional accountability of all Lower School staff members.
Ensure high quality teaching and learning, including evaluation and review of teachers and staff of the Lower School in conjunction with the Principal and Vice Principal;
Contribute, as part of the senior leadership team, to training, coaching and mentoring of the Lower School staff. and the professional learning of staff;
Participate in the process of appointing new staff including interviewing and providing recommendations to the Principal;
Provide support for new staff members to learn the Academy’s routines, structure, and curricula materials related to their role.
Contribute towards the formulation of all Academy policies and procedures;
Plan, schedule and support duties including but not limited to lunch/break/before and after school programming;
Assist in planning and delivering Academy-wide assemblies and meetings;
Ensure that the Principal and Vice Principal are well informed about the status and concerns related to the Lower School operations;
Attend Academy leadership meetings as appropriate;
Maintain records as required by statute or policy through the use of various logs, tracking records, computer programs, or other programs;
Assume responsibility for emergent issues as needed.

Master’s Degree in education or beyond
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a school leadership position
Skilled communicator- both written and spoken
Skilled user of technology and learning platforms
Strategic and creative thinker and planner
Knowledgeable of problems facing young women in today’s society
