Description Connelly School of the Holy Child’s Coakley Center for Innovative Learning is seeking a full-time Learning Specialist to support students with a variety of learning differences such as; ADHD, SLD, Executive Function, Anxiety, Gifted/LD and other language based learning differences. Learning Specialists work with students 1:1 or small group to develop skills and strategies to excel in the courses. They are integral part of the academic team and provide insight on the uniqueness of our students. Responsibilities include: - Teach study skills classes and provide academic coaching for students in grades 6-12
- Create, plan, and teach study skills while meeting the needs of a diverse student population.??
- Assist students with executive functioning and organization
- Remain in close contact with parents and teachers
- Ensure students are receiving the appropriate classroom accommodations
- Review grades and progress reports
- Develop intervention plans with students, parents, and teachers when necessary
- Support the Learning Lab at least one afternoon a week
- Identify and address student academic concerns through positive problem-solving strategies
- Support faculty and staff concerning academic concerns of their students
- Provide an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and the emotional development of young women.
- Integrate technology effectively into reading, writing, and classroom practices
- Participate in the school community with other duties as assigned.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues within department as well as colleagues from additional departments to align teaching practices
- Pursue professional growth opportunities to continually grow as a teacher in order to enhance student learning.
- Respond to the needs of Holy Child, including service learning, advisory program, assigned supervision and other duties as assigned.
- An active commitment to enhancing our school community through involvement on committees and in student life activities.
