Saint Patrick’s Parish School is located in the North End of Tacoma, WA. It is both a neighborhood school and a destination for all students seeking a quality, faith-filled education. Saint Patrick’s has 326 students currently enrolled in the school, which is comprised of several Pre-K classrooms and an average of 2 classrooms per grade through the 8th Grade. Saint Patrick’s School continues to receive the highest level of accreditation approval (6-year) from the Western Catholic Educational Association. Our Parish and School Community are committed to the growth and success of the school.
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
We seek a faith-filled, growth-focused, and collaborative principal to join us in our mission to extend the opportunity of a quality, faith-filled education to those who seek it. Ideal candidates are involved community members and enthusiastic representatives of the Catholic faith and champions of exceptional academic standards.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Collaborates with the pastor in implementing the mission of the Parish. 2. Ensures the development and implementation of an overall learning environment, which promotes Catholic faith formation/education, ethical decision-making, social justice and Christian leadership. 3. Ensures the development, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive curriculum program, which complies with Archdiocesan and state standards of curriculum requirements. 4. Ensures the supervision of certified and support staff. 5. Ensures that learning standards are developed and maintained for students. 6. Ensures the development and maintenance of effective communication systems between parents, teachers and school administrators. 7. Serves as staff and executive officer to the School Commission. 8. Oversees the development of an overall financial plan for the school. 9. Collaborates with the Catholic School Department in administering the school. 10. Ensures the development of policy and process for disciplining students. 11. Participates with other secular and private schools in the community in facilitating joint programs and/or the acquisition of joint supplies with the local school district. 12. Ensures the preparation and submission of all necessary reports to the state and Archdiocesan Catholic School Department. 13. Maintains a level of knowledge and skills required to function as a Principal. This is accomplished through reading, attendance at Archdiocesan in-service training opportunities, participation in worships, conventions or convocations and through membership in local, state or national professional organizations, as approved and as appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
Fundamental Requirement: All candidates must be practicing Catholics and hold a current Washington State Principal Credential (or similar credential).
Experience: Candidates should have experience such that they should be able to successfully assume responsibility for the day-to-day operation and administration of, as well as forward planning for the school.
Other: Applicants should be prepared to work closely with the pastor, the Parish Administrator, and Advisory School Commission as well as work collaboratively with their fellow principals and the Archdiocesan School Office to ensure the vitality of our collective school community.
