Devon Prep, a Catholic, college preparatory school for young men in grades six to twelve, is seeking a Spanish teacher to teach an introductory level Spanish course to 6th grade students.

Our sixth grade students, in order to sample the various languages we teach,  study Spanish, French and German for one marking period each, in turn. At the end of the third marking period, they choose one of the languages to continue studying in the fourth marking period, and beyond. We are looking for a teacher who would like to teach this intro course in the third marking period, and then continue teaching in the fourth marking period.

It is expected the successful candidate would:

• Proficiently teach Spanish to all grade-levels at various levels of difficulty
• Make Spanish meaningful and relevant to students’ everyday lives and future careers
• Implement student-centered teaching practices
• Differentiate instruction and assessment for all types of learners
• Utilize technology with enthusiasm to enhance instruction and student learning
• Proactively communicate with students and parents
• Revise and plan new curriculum in conjunction with other members of the World Language Department
• Serve as an academic adviser to current students
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and seek opportunities for cross-curricular learning
• Perform additional duties, such as advising a club and chaperoning events, as needed
• Other duties as assigned
