| Ascension Providence Hospital in Southfield, Michigan, a suburb that borders Detroit, is actively seeking a new Chair of Internal Medicine.
The Chair of Internal Medicine is responsible for the leadership and activities of the Department and Service Line at two sites; Ascension Providence Hospital, Southfield Campus and Ascension Providence Hospital, Novi Campus. Collectively the two hospitals comprise 565 patient beds.
This is a highly visible position that reports directly to the Chief Medical Officer and partners with the Vice President, Performance Excellence/Med Services for the Service Line activities. The role consists of a mix of administrative, teaching, clinical and research time. The Department of Medicine includes:
•Over 600 employed and private practice physicians
•More than half of the total physician complement are in General Internal Medicine
•Fifteen Sections with elected Section Chiefs
•ACGME accredited IM program (36 residents) and 4 accredited fellowship programs (53 fellows)
•Annual department volumes of 15,124 inpatients (FY19)
The selected candidate for this position will possess a wide range of skills, including, the ability to drive change in a complex, community-based environment, successful outcomes of bringing together and working with private practice and employed physician groups toward a common goal, and demonstrated track record of leadership accomplishments.
