Loyola Blakefield invites applications for the position of High School Principal. We seek an inspiring and thoughtful leader who embraces and promotes the virtues of an Ignatian educational experience and the many ways it enriches the lives of students and the school community at large. About Loyola Blakefield Founded in 1852, Loyola Blakefield is a Catholic, Jesuit college preparatory school for boys in grades six through twelve located in Towson, Maryland. Loyola Blakefield offers a challenging college preparatory curriculum that provides a broad range of major course offerings including honors and advanced placement courses, complemented by a selection of enriching electives and co-curricular activities. Ignatian service and spiritual formation, in the Jesuit tradition, is the hallmark of a Loyola education. As such, the Loyola student is preparing to graduate as a man of integrity, who, because he strives “to find God in all things,” is open to growth, intellectually ambitious, religious, loving, and committed to diversity and doing justice. In a manner consistent with Catholic teaching, the Loyola Blakefield graduate comes to understand the enriching and liberating value of human variety, to embrace diversity, and to cherish human differences. The Blakefield Campus Loyola’s 65-acre suburban campus located in Baltimore County is an ideal setting for boys to learn and grow. It features a bounty of green space, wooded areas, and a variety of buildings that serve the academic, co-curricular, and spiritual needs of our students. While maintaining its historical and aesthetic appeal, the campus has modernized over the past 20 years and is on the verge of two major enhancements: construction of a new Innovative Learning Center and transformation of our outdoor athletics facilities. These projects are reflective of our desire to adapt to the needs of our students and the inspiring investments that our alumni, parents and benefactors make in their learning experience. The Baltimore Region From world-renowned museums and waterfront attractions to an impressive variety of cultural and academic institutions, Baltimore is a diverse city that welcomes visitors from across the globe. Home to the first Catholic Diocese in the United States, Baltimore and the surrounding region boasts a rich history of education in the Catholic tradition. From the charming neighborhoods of the city of Baltimore to the rolling hills of rural Baltimore County, the region is one that residents (lifelong and transplanted) are proud to call home. The Role The High School Principal is the educational leader of grades 9–12, reporting directly to the President and, by extension, to the Board of Trustees, for the administration, operation, and educational and spiritual development of the academic, co-curricular, and formational programs in the high school. The Principal has comprehensive responsibility for the planning, coordination, and implementation of the high school’s educational policies and academic standards. They also collaborate closely with the Middle School Principal to ensure curriculum alignment and consistency of the student experience. As a member of the school’s leadership team, they must demonstrate an ability to articulate the value of a Jesuit education, play a leading role in fostering a community that embraces diversity and inclusion for all, and serve as an enthusiastic ambassador for our mission. In keeping with its mission, Loyola Blakefield strives to recruit faculty and staff of diverse ethnic, religious, geographic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. |
