Assistant Professor in Theological Ethics

The Jesuit School of Theology of Santa Clara University invites applications for an assistant-rank position in Theological Ethics to begin Fall 2021. Areas of sub-specialization are open, but should complement existing faculty strengths and may include: political/geopolitical theologies; liberation theologies; race/racial justice; postcolonial studies; ecological ethics; ethics of migration; economic or business ethics; war and peace; human rights; or gender/sexual justice. A strong candidate will offer evidence of engaging public and social issues using constructive and contextual methodologies. The candidate must demonstrate promise/success as a teaching scholar and understand and support the school’s Ignatian mission. Facility in on-line pedagogy (or willingness to acquire this) is a strong desideratum. Ability to teach in Spanish is a positive consideration.

Ideal candidates should demonstrate not only potential for excellent graduate teaching, but also promise in sustained research and scholarly publication, and service to the school, the GTU, the community, and the Church. The successful candidate will mentor students in JST-SCU’s ecclesiastical programs (STB, STL and STD) as well as our various masters degrees and GTU masters and doctoral degree programs..
