The Academy of Notre Dame de Namur, an independent Catholic school for girls located in Villanova, Pennsylvania, seeks a part-time music teacher for the 2020-21 school year. The ideal candidate is a dynamic and student-centered individual versed in current trends and emerging ideas in music education. This candidate will inspire students to learn and excel in the area of instrumental music. Additionally, this candidate should also desire to teach general music courses and an Introduction to Musical Theatre course at the high school level. The ideal candidate should be enthusiastic about faith-based girls’ education, have a familiarity with instructional technology, and enjoy working in a collaborative environment where team members share ideas and constructive feedback. He or she should be passionate about teaching music and be able to relate concepts and principles to students' everyday lives. He or she must be a team player with initiative, good judgment, and solid problem-solving and communication skills.
The Instrumental Music teacher:
Teaches Middle School and Upper School Instrumental Ensemble courses with the possibility of middle school general music courses and/or a Freshman Introduction to Performing Arts Class (Musical Theatre-based)
Creates and delivers engaging instrumental music curricula
Establishes a culture of positive communication with students, colleagues, and parents; responds to messages and inquiries in a timely manner
Has a willingness to teach remotely as needed
Creates an inclusive classroom/work environment
Maintains a safe, orderly, and supportive classroom
A Bachelor’s degree in Music Education
3+ years of Middle and/or Upper School teaching
Demonstrated knowledge of subject content, curriculum, and methodology of effective teaching
Skilled in the use of instructional technologies to enhance learning and deliver content in person and online, as needed
High degree of cultural competency and commitment to girls’ education
Piano skills desired
